Red Dead Redemption SHOCK! Modern Upgrade Gameplay Leaks Online!
Gaming News 01 December 2025

Alright, partner, saddle up! Because footage of *Red Dead Redemption* running on the PS5 has finally moseyed its way online ahead of its official release tomorrow, December 2nd. And from what I'm seeing, it's lookin' mighty fine.

Red Dead Redemption SHOCK! Modern Upgrade Gameplay...

GameRiot, bless their cotton socks, released a video showing the opening moments of the game, and the big news? It's running at a smooth 60 frames per second. Now, some might scoff and say, "Pshaw, 60fps? That's old news!" But let me tell ya, for a game as vast and detailed as *Red Dead Redemption*, hitting that sweet spot makes a world of difference. Rockstar's also promising enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. We're talkin' about a serious visual upgrade here, folks.

This update, hitting PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and, whisper it, a potentially upgraded Switch 2 (though that's just rumors for now), comes after the initial announcement last month. It's already live in some regions, which is why we're seeing this footage now. The internet, as always, works fast. Speaking of fast, PureXbox reported that the Xbox Series X|S version is currently half-price in New Zealand. Keep your eyes peeled, folks, as this deal may spread to other territories.

Now, the folks over at Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games are the ones doing the heavy lifting on this upgrade for Rockstar. And the best part? If you already own the game on PS4, Xbox One, or Switch, you're getting a free digital upgrade. That’s right, free! Plus, you can transfer your save data from PS4 and Switch, meaning you can pick up right where you left off. Smart move, Rockstar, smart move. Nobody wants to start hunting cougars from scratch again. I know I don't.

And for those of you subscribed to PlayStation Plus or GTA+, the updated *Red Dead Redemption* will be available through those services starting December 2nd as well. So, plenty of options to experience this classic in a new light.

Of course, the big question everyone's asking is: what about *Red Dead Redemption 2*? Will we see a similar upgrade for the sequel on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and that mythical Switch 2? Well, as of now, those are just whispers in the saloon. Nothing official. But hey, a man can dream, can't he? Until then, I'll be busy reliving the adventures of John Marston in glorious 4K.
