'Heated Rivalry' Release Dates Revealed! When Does HBO Max Drop the Next Episode?
Movies & TV Series 02 December 2025

Alright, romance fans, grab your hot chocolate because HBO Max is bringing the heat this winter, literally. I'm talking about "Heated Rivalry," the new romantic drama based on Rachel Reid's popular "Game Changers" book series. Now, you might be thinking, "Another sports romance?" But trust me, this one seems to have a bit more depth than your average feel-good flick. It’s got that forbidden love element going for it, which, let’s be honest, always adds a layer of intrigue.

'Heated Rivalry' Release Dates Revealed! When Does...

Originally developed for Canada's Crave streaming service by Jacob Tierney (who seems to be pulling double duty as writer, director, and producer – impressive!), HBO Max swooped in and picked it up for U.S. and Australian audiences. And good thing they did! "Heated Rivalry" premiered on November 28th, so some of you might already be hooked.

The premise is simple enough: two rookie hockey players, Shane and Ilya, find themselves entangled in a secret affair. But here's the kicker: the show spans eight years. That's eight years of on-ice battles, off-ice angst, and grappling with their true feelings. Imagine trying to navigate the hyper-masculine world of professional hockey while hiding a relationship that could shatter everything. Talk about pressure!

The series definitely explores that tension between passion and love. Can these two competitive athletes find a way to make their relationship work in a world that might not be ready for them? It's a classic tale, but with a modern twist, and I'm here for it. The cast looks solid too. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie take on the roles of Shane and Ilya, respectively, and the supporting cast includes François Arnaud, Christina Chang, and even Dylan Walsh (remember him from "Nip/Tuck"?). I’m curious to see how they bring these characters to life.

Now, for those of you who haven't started watching yet, here's the release schedule you need to know. Episodes 1 (“Rookies”) and 2 (“Olympians”) dropped on November 28th, giving you a good introduction to the story. Episode 5 (“I’ll Believe in Anything”) was released on December 19th. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact release dates for episodes 3, 4 and 6. My sources say the schedule is a little irregular so you'll have to check HBO Max for updates.

Produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment in association with Bell Media’s Crave, and distributed internationally by Sphere Abacus, "Heated Rivalry" looks like a solid addition to HBO Max's lineup. I'm personally looking forward to seeing how this story unfolds. Just a little tip - grab the tissues, folks. I have a feeling this one's going to be an emotional rollercoaster!
