Alright, Tarnished, buckle up! Lucy James here, and I’ve just emerged from the Forsaken Hollows (barely), and I’m here to spill the beans on FromSoftware’s upcoming Elden Ring DLC: Nightreign. Forget what you think you know, because this expansion is about to crank the difficulty – and the lore – to eleven. We managed to snag some exclusive early access, and let me tell you, it’s brutal... and utterly brilliant.
Elden Ring DLC LEAK: Undertaker's Secrets REVEALED...
Nightreign throws two brand new character classes into the Lands Between fray: the Scholar, a magic-focused powerhouse, and the subject of today's deep dive, the Undertaker. Now, when I first heard "Undertaker," images of slow, tanky builds came to mind, you know, the kind that soak up damage and dish it back out after a geological age. Boy, was I wrong. The Undertaker is far more nuanced, and frankly, a lot more fun than I initially anticipated.
The core of the Undertaker's gameplay revolves around a unique mechanic: Soul Siphon. Basically, every enemy you defeat leaves behind a lingering spectral essence. The Undertaker can then absorb this essence, fueling a variety of abilities. We're talking enhanced weapon arts, powerful defensive buffs, and even the ability to briefly summon spectral allies to fight alongside you. Think a necromancer with a surprisingly aggressive playstyle. It's high-risk, high-reward – you need to be constantly engaging and taking down enemies to maintain your power, which means no hiding behind a shield for this class.
One of the coolest things I noticed is how well the Undertaker scales with existing weapon types. While they get access to some unique Nightreign weapons (scythes aplenty, naturally), their Soul Siphon abilities can be seamlessly integrated into builds using katanas, greatswords, you name it. This adds a whole new layer of customization and allows you to tailor the Undertaker to your preferred combat style. Imagine an Undertaker wielding Rivers of Blood, constantly draining souls to fuel its already devastating weapon art. Scary, right?
But it's not just about combat. The Undertaker also boasts some interesting dialogue options and interactions with NPCs. I don't want to spoil too much, but let's just say that their perspective on life, death, and the Erdtree is... unconventional. It seems that Nightreign is going to delve deeper into the darker corners of Elden Ring's lore, and the Undertaker is right at the heart of it. Personally, I’m excited to see how players will utilize this new class, and I’m willing to bet it will shake up the PvP meta quite a bit. Prepare yourselves, Tarnished; the Forsaken Hollows are coming, and the Undertaker is ready to claim some souls.
