What shoppers need to know about Denia’s Christmas market changes
Denia Christmas Market SHUT DOWN?! Shoppers Stunne...
Denia is bracing itself for a December like no other, folks. With the Constitution Day bank holiday kicking things off and the Christmas season officially starting, it's going to be a bustling time. And, as always, that means some changes to our beloved market schedules and locations, so listen up!
From December 5th through the 14th, Calle de la Via will be transformed into a winter wonderland. That's right, the Mercat de Nadal is back! This annual Christmas market is always a huge draw, packing the street with festive cheer. Think local artisans, Christmas goodies, and family fun – it's the perfect place to soak up the holiday spirit. The grand opening on Friday the 5th also marks the official switch-on of Denia's Christmas lights, which is always a magical sight.
Now, here's the important bit. The arrival of the Christmas market means our regular Friday fruit and vegetable market on Calle de la Via has to temporarily move. But don't worry, you won't have to go without your fresh produce! Just like in previous years, it's relocating to the streets surrounding the blue-zone car park on Calle Manuel Lattur. That's the one behind the Hotel Costablanca – easy to find. This change is only for Friday, December 5th and Friday, December 12th. Otherwise, everything is business as usual. It’s pretty convenient, really, and the residents are well aware of the location, ensuring the market doesn't skip a beat during all the festivities.
Good news for those looking to get their Saturday morning shop in! The Mercat Municipal in the old town will be open as usual on Saturday, December 6th, even though it's a public holiday. And even better, the market hall and its bars and restaurants will be staying open late, until 11:00 PM, for the Nit de la Llum. If you haven't experienced it, it's a must-see! The whole town is lit up with thousands of lights, and shops stay open late. It’s one of the most enchanting nights of the year. However, mark your calendars, the Mercat Municipal will be closed all day on Monday, December 8th, which is another public holiday. That’s the only change to its normal schedule.
Finally, for those who love the Monday market, the Torrecremada market, held in the park at Denia's western entrance, will be operating as usual on Monday, December 8th, despite the holiday. It’s a great spot, really open and easy to get to.
