FNAF 2: Matthew Lillard's SHOCKING R-Rating Confession! Fans Stunned!
Gaming News 02 December 2025

Okay, folks, brace yourselves. The animatronic terrors are back! "Five Nights at Freddy's 2" hits theaters this week, and if early buzz is anything to go by, you might want to bring a spare pair of pants. The original film raked in a whopping $297.1 million worldwide, so expectations are understandably high. And apparently, the sequel is pushing the boundaries of what a PG-13 rating can handle.

FNAF 2: Matthew Lillard's SHOCKING R-Rating Confes...

Returning star Matthew Lillard, you know, the guy who always seems to steal the show (remember "Scream"?), was so freaked out by the movie that he actually questioned whether it should have been rated R. Director Emma Tammi spilled the beans in a recent interview, saying Lillard called her up practically demanding to know if it was still PG-13. That's a pretty strong endorsement of the scare factor, if you ask me.

Tammi herself acknowledges the sequel goes to "darker places" than the first film. The goal, she explained, was to cater to fans who wanted more intense scares while still keeping it accessible to younger viewers. It's a tricky balancing act, trying to satisfy both the hardcore horror hounds and the pre-teen set who helped make the first movie a smash. I've got to admit, I'm curious to see how they pulled it off.

Of course, Josh Hutcherson is back as Mike Schmidt, the former security guard with a serious case of Freddy-induced PTSD. Piper Rubio returns as his sister, Abby, and Elizabeth Lail reprises her role as Vanessa, who has a rather complicated family history involving Lillard's character, William Afton. Plus, we've got some fresh faces joining the party, including the legendary Wayne Knight (Newman!), Mckenna Grace, and even Skeet Ulrich, reuniting with Lillard for some more on-screen shenanigans. Megan Fox lends her voice to Toy Chica, with Kellen Goff as Toy Freddy, and MatPat from The Game Theorists YouTube channel voicing Toy Bonnie. Talk about a star-studded cast!

And because no movie release is complete without some tie-in marketing, GameSpot bravely sampled Popeyes' "Five Nights At Freddy's" Deluxe Box. I’m almost afraid to ask what that entails. Also, for the lore enthusiasts among us, "Five Nights At Freddy's Ultimate Guide Version 2.0" is hitting bookstores. So, whether you want to eat themed chicken, delve into the deep lore, or just be scared senseless in a movie theater, "Five Nights At Freddy's 2" seems to have you covered. Get ready for the jump scares, folks! The film officially opens this Friday, December 5th. Sweet dreams... or should I say, nightmare fuel?
