Derby Aftermath: Shocking Bans?! What Will Happen Now?!
Sports 02 December 2025

Turkish football is never short on drama, and the aftermath of the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby is proving no exception. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has just dropped the hammer, announcing a slew of referrals to the Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK) following what was, by all accounts, a fiercely contested match. It’s a familiar pattern, really, after these high-stakes clashes; the tension spills off the pitch and into the administrative realm.

Derby Aftermath: Shocking Bans?! What Will Happen ...

The official PFDK statement names several individuals and both clubs, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, citing a range of charges. It seems no one emerged unscathed from this particular battle. The severity of the potential punishments remains to be seen, but the sheer number of referrals suggests the TFF is taking a zero-tolerance approach to post-match conduct.

Fenerbahçe A.Ş. Club finds itself in hot water, referred under multiple articles of the Football Disciplinary Regulations. These include Article 53 concerning "unsportsmanlike conduct and foul language," Article 52 addressing "field events," and Article 46, combined with elements of the TFF Süper Lig Competition Statutes, related to "actions contrary to regulations." Basically, a broad spectrum of alleged misdeeds during the Trendyol Süper Lig Mehmet Ali Yılmaz Season match on December 1, 2025. It sounds like the TFF is investigating everything from bad language to potentially disruptive behavior on the field and violations of league rules. This could mean a hefty fine for the club, or perhaps even stadium restrictions.

Adding to Fenerbahçe's woes, club administrator Ali Bozan has been referred with precautionary measures for "unsportsmanlike conduct." Similarly, Fenerbahçe player Mert Hakan Yandaş faces the PFDK, also with precautionary measures, accused of "insulting behavior." These precautionary measures typically mean a temporary suspension while the investigation is ongoing, keeping them off the pitch until the PFDK reaches a decision. The specific nature of the "insulting behavior" hasn’t been disclosed, but you can imagine the kind of heated exchanges that might occur in a derby environment.

Galatasaray A.Ş. isn't escaping scrutiny either. They too are referred under Article 53 for "unsportsmanlike conduct and foul language" and Article 52 for "field events." It appears both teams were contributing to the overall heightened atmosphere. Furthermore, Galatasaray Vice President Metin Öztürk faces a referral for "statements damaging the reputation of football" made in his post-match media statements. This is usually reserved for comments deemed overly critical or inflammatory. Galatasaray coach Serhat Doğan also finds himself referred with precautionary measures for "unsportsmanlike conduct." So, similar to Fenerbahçe, the accusations against Galatasaray are multifaceted and involve both administrative and on-field personnel.

Ultimately, the PFDK will now weigh the evidence and deliver its verdicts. It will be interesting to see what sanctions, if any, are handed down. One thing's for sure: this derby will be talked about for weeks to come, and not just for the football.
