Age Concern for Fuengirola, Mijas, and Benalmádena is gearing up for a jam-packed December, folks! They're planning a whole sleigh-load of festive events designed to bring a bit of holiday sparkle to the local community. From charity fundraisers to just plain good old social get-togethers, they're aiming to spread Christmas cheer far and wide.
Costa del Sol Christmas Cheer! Age Concern's Holid...
First up is the third annual "Bars of Christmas" fundraiser this Sunday, December 7th. This one's always a hit, promising an afternoon overflowing with fun, games, and that unmistakable Christmas spirit. Picture this: people decked out in their most outrageous Christmas outfits, hopping between local bars, all while raising money for a great cause. Oh, and there will be prizes! Who doesn’t love a good prize?
Seriously, though, this event is all about giving back. Entry is only €5, and every single penny goes directly to the Hospital to Home project. This is a fantastic initiative that provides vital support to vulnerable older residents right here in our community. Registration is easy – just pop into any Age Concern Drop-In Centre. Or, if you’re feeling spontaneous, just head straight to Bakers Tavern at 13:00 (that's 1 PM for those of you still on holiday time!). They’ll have a route map available so you can join in the festive frolics at any point. And keep an eye on their Facebook page; they'll be posting updates throughout the day. I might even swing by myself; I’ve got a particularly hideous Christmas sweater that needs an outing.
But the festive fun doesn't stop there. On Wednesday, December 17th, Age Concern is organizing a festive coach trip to Gibraltar! Now, that sounds like a great day out. They're picking up from various spots in Arroyo, Fuengirola, Las Lagunas, and Cala de Mijas between 09:00 and 09:30, so it’s pretty convenient. Think about it: duty-free shopping (hello, Christmas presents!), quaint cafés, and soaking up the unique atmosphere of Gibraltar. The coach is scheduled to head back around 16:30 (4:30 PM), giving you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Tickets are €15 and can be booked at the local drop-in clubs. A trip I’d love to take if I wasn’t chained to the news desk – lucky you if you go!
Basically, Age Concern is throwing open its doors and inviting everyone – regulars and newcomers alike – to join in the Christmas celebrations and support some truly worthwhile local causes. For all the nitty-gritty details and booking information, head over to their website at www.ageconcernfym.com or give their Facebook page (AgeConcernFMB) a search. Remember, Age Concern's all about supporting English-speaking folks over 50, especially those who might be feeling a bit vulnerable or lonely. They offer a whole host of social events and support services, so it's a fantastic organization to get involved with.
