RE Requiem: Is This Classic RE1 Remake Hidden in New Gameplay?!
Tech Product Reviews 03 December 2025

Alright, survival horror fans, gather 'round because something juicy just dropped! A tiny snippet of gameplay from the upcoming "Resident Evil Requiem" has surfaced, and if you're anything like me, it's got you seriously hyped. I've been a fan since the original PlayStation days, so seeing this has me practically vibrating.

RE Requiem: Is This Classic RE1 Remake Hidden in N...

The footage, which apparently aired during some kind of Japanese TV special (thank you, internet sleuths!), shows the new protagonist, Grace, tangling with a classic, shambling zombie. Nothing revolutionary there, right? Wrong. It's the setting that's got everyone talking. Think dark corridors, flickering lights, and an overall architectural design that screams "Spencer Mansion."

Now, Capcom hasn't officially confirmed that we're back in the hallowed halls of the original "Resident Evil" mansion. But come on! The vibe is unmistakable. Whether it's a revamped section of the old mansion, or a cleverly disguised new location echoing its design, it's definitely playing on those nostalgic heartstrings. And frankly, it's working.

But wait, there's more! As if a return to Raccoon City wasn't enough, the rumor mill is churning out some serious Leon S. Kennedy speculation. Apparently, there's a strong possibility he'll be a second playable character. Now that would be amazing. Capcom's being predictably coy about it, but they did drop a hint about other classic characters from the Raccoon City incident showing up. So, fingers crossed!

What's really interesting to me is how Capcom is framing "Resident Evil Requiem." They're clearly positioning it as a return to the series' roots, both geographically and narratively. While "Resident Evil 7" and "Village" were great in their own right, they felt somewhat disconnected from the Raccoon City saga. It sounds like "Requiem" is aiming to bridge that gap, which I think is a smart move. It’ll please the long-time fans like myself who have been itching for a more direct connection to the earlier storylines.

Mark your calendars, folks! "Resident Evil Requiem" is scheduled to launch on February 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. Plenty of time to stock up on ammo (virtually, of course) and prepare for another terrifying trip down memory lane...with a fresh coat of paint. I, for one, can't wait.
