Big news coming out of Hollywood today! Keshet International, known for its globally appealing content, has just inked a multi-year first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television. This means Sony gets the first crack at developing and producing English-language adaptations of Keshet's extensive library of scripted shows. It's a significant move that underscores Keshet's growing influence in the international television landscape.

The partnership will be spearheaded by Keshet Studios, the Israeli company's US-based production arm, led by Peter Traugott. Traugott, who has been at the helm of Keshet Studios since 2014, will oversee the collaboration, ensuring that the development of these original scripted series stays true to Keshet's vision. It's a smart move to have someone so familiar with the source material guiding the process.

And what's the first project on the docket? Drumroll please… it's a U.S. remake of the hit Keshet 12 romantic comedy series, *Save the Date*. This one sounds like it has real potential. Think charming, quirky, and relatable – all the ingredients for a successful rom-com.

Adding even more firepower to the project is Dana Fox, the incredibly talented writer behind *Wicked: Part One* and *Wicked: For Good*. She's on board as showrunner, writing and executive producing the adaptation under her overall deal with Sony Pictures Television. Fox's involvement is a major coup, signaling Sony's commitment to making this remake a hit. Her rom-com experience seems perfectly suited to adapt a series about love, weddings, and a touch of magical chaos.

*Save the Date* tells the story of Dassy, a wedding planner whose life is thrown into disarray when she suddenly finds herself single. A mishap involving her grandmother's love spell leads to her juggling the affections of four former flames – talk about a complicated love life! She's left to wonder if any of them will lead her to her own happily ever after. The original series has already proven to be a hit in Israel, becoming the country's highest-rated drama of 2024. It even stars Tomer Capone, who American audiences might recognize from *The Boys*.

Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, expressed her excitement about the partnership, highlighting Keshet's reputation for innovative programming. It seems like this is a win-win situation for both companies, combining Keshet's creative vision with Sony's production and distribution power.

Of course, Keshet isn't new to the first-look deal game. They previously had a decade-long run with Universal Television, producing series like *La Brea* and *The Baker and The Beauty*. This new chapter with Sony is definitely one to watch.

With Dana Fox also developing a TV series adaptation of the classic board game *Clue*, Sony TV seems to be investing heavily in projects with both broad appeal and a touch of nostalgia. Overall, this deal feels like a smart strategic move, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Keshet and Sony create together.
