Scorsese & 'Billions' Team Up For Vegas Drama! What Could Go Wrong?!
Movies & TV Series 03 December 2025

Hold on to your hats, folks. Martin Scorsese is heading back to Vegas, and this time he's bringing Netflix along for the ride. Thirty years after his iconic film *Casino* captivated audiences, Scorsese is executive producing a new drama series set in the glitzy, high-stakes world of gambling. It’s a fascinating decision, and frankly, I’m already hooked.

Scorsese & 'Billions' Team Up For Vegas Drama! Wha...

The eight-episode series, currently untitled, is being spearheaded by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the brilliant minds behind *Billions*. They'll be serving as showrunners, which, if *Billions* is anything to go by, means we’re in for some seriously compelling television. The drama promises to plunge us headfirst into the cutthroat, modern-day casino business, a sort of evolved version of the Vegas we’ve seen before. Think less vintage, more viper pit.

At the heart of it all is Robert "Bobby Red" Redman, the president of the hottest hotel casino in town. Imagine the pressure! He's not just keeping the lights on; he's got to navigate treacherous odds, make bold moves, and generally stay ten steps ahead of everyone else to solidify his position and expand his empire. Sounds like the perfect recipe for a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat drama, right?

Beyond Koppelman, Levien, and Scorsese, the executive producer lineup is stacked. Paul Schiff of Best Available, Julie and Rick Yorn for Expanded Media, and former *Billions* writer-producer Beth Schacter are all on board. Kerry Orent will serve as co-executive producer. It’s a powerhouse team, and frankly, that gives me a lot of confidence in the project’s potential. What’s particularly interesting is the path this project took to get to this point.

Apparently, the initial concept involved a period setting. However, Netflix ultimately went with Koppelman and Levien’s pitch for a contemporary casino drama. A smart move, in my opinion. While paying homage to the allure and danger that made *Casino* so special, it will inevitably offer a fresh perspective on the city and its inhabitants. I’m excited to see how they tackle the evolving landscape of gambling, technology, and the ever-present human element.

While sharing a backdrop with Scorsese's classic film, this Netflix series is a completely standalone story. So, don't expect any cameos from De Niro, Stone, or Pesci (although, never say never!). This is a brand new tale, unrelated to the 1973 setting of the original. Scorsese, of course, is no stranger to the gambling world, having previously explored it in his HBO period drama, *Boardwalk Empire*. And Koppelman and Levien? Well, they have penned screenplays for *Ocean's Thirteen* and *Rounders*, so it is safe to say they know the terrain well.

This project also marks a reunion for Scorsese, Koppelman, and Levien, who previously collaborated on Scorsese's HBO series *Vinyl*. For Koppelman and Levien, it’s their first series greenlight since *Billions* wrapped up its impressive seven-season run on Showtime. They're clearly in high demand, and this Netflix series is a testament to their talent and storytelling prowess. Looks like our Netflix queues are about to get a whole lot more interesting. I know I'll be counting down the days.
