Alright, fellow Tarnished, brace yourselves! The Lands Between are about to get a whole lot bigger (and probably a whole lot deadlier) with the impending release of "The Forsaken Hollows" DLC for Elden Ring: Nightreign. And before you go charging headfirst into whatever horrors From Software has cooked up for us, you'll need to download the latest patch, Version 1.03, which is live and kicking on all platforms.
Elden Ring Nightreign Update: What Does It Mean fo...
This isn't just a simple bug fix, though. While those are definitely included (more on that in a bit), the update also seems to be tweaking some core gameplay mechanics. Specifically, it's broadening the trigger conditions for Relic effects. Now, this is interesting. From what I'm reading, it seems like they're making it easier to activate those sweet passive buffs. Think increased attack power when you're rocking a colossal sword in both hands, or even better chain attacks. Anything that makes those jump attacks more viable is a win in my book. I’ve always felt the jump attack was underutilized, so maybe this will finally make them a force to be reckoned with.
And speaking of becoming a force, the Wrath of Gold incantation is getting a serious buff! Not only is it packing more punch, but it'll also be less of a drain on your FP. Finally, something to help us Faith builds out a little. I know a lot of people think Faith is underpowered, so hopefully, this is a step in the right direction.
Okay, so what about those bug fixes? Well, thankfully, they've squashed an annoying issue that was teleporting players during Augur invasions after landing a critical hit. Nothing worse than getting ready to deliver the final blow and then *poof*, you're halfway across the map. The patch also addresses a rather serious problem that was preventing players from activating Sites of Grace or Churches under specific conditions. Can you imagine being stuck without a bonfire? That’s Elden Ring on hard mode, even for veterans. Seriously, that's a game-breaker, so I'm glad they got that sorted out.
The Forsaken Hollows DLC drops officially on December 4th, so you don't have long to prepare! GameSpot's already got a guide up on how to kick things off, so go check that out if you want a head start on unlocking those two new playable characters and facing off against those terrifying new bosses. And of course, you can dive into the full patch notes yourself for all the nitty-gritty details. Get ready to die... a lot. Happy hunting, Tarnished!
