Okay, so here's something a little out of the ordinary happening in the world of broadcast news. Bari Weiss, the Editor-in-Chief over at CBS News, is stepping out from behind the desk to moderate a town hall next week. And the guest of honor? Erika Kirk, widow of the late Charlie Kirk and now the head honcho at Turning Point USA.
Bari Weiss & Erika Kirk: SHOCKING Truths Revealed ...
The town hall, scheduled to air on CBS on December 13th, is being billed as an opportunity for Kirk to connect with young evangelicals, religious leaders, and folks from all sorts of political persuasions. It's being pre-recorded in New York City, with a live studio audience, adding a bit of theatrical flair to the proceedings. You can catch it at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, or stream it on Paramount+ and CBS News 24/7. Plenty of options to tune in, right?
Erika Kirk's ascendance to the top spot at Turning Point USA after her husband’s passing is a pretty significant story in itself. The organization, known for its conservative activism on college campuses and beyond, is now under her leadership, and it will be interesting to see what direction she takes it in.
Now, Bari Weiss's involvement is where things get really interesting, at least from an industry perspective. Weiss, known for creating The Free Press, obviously has experience in shaping and guiding conversations. But it’s not every day you see the head of a network news division taking on the role of moderator. Usually, those folks are pulling the strings from behind the curtain, ensuring the trains run on time, so to speak. It's a bold move, to say the least. It kind of suggests a desire to be more directly involved in the content itself, maybe even to steer the narrative in a particular direction. I personally find this fascinating.
