Gaming News 05 December 2025

Alright, horror fans, get ready to carve out some time in your calendars because IllFonic just dropped a juicy new trailer for their asymmetrical multiplayer game, Halloween, at today's PC Gaming Show. And let me tell you, it looks like they're going straight for the jugular – or, you know, the trick-or-treat basket.

Haddonfield Horror! NEW Halloween Game Map SHOCKS ...

The big reveal? We finally get a peek at the first map: Haddonfield Heights. Now, if you're a true horror aficionado, that name should send shivers down your spine. Haddonfield, Illinois, is practically synonymous with terror thanks to John Carpenter’s masterpiece, the original 1978 Halloween. Setting the game here is just brilliant, really.

IllFonic and Gun Interactive (co-publishing, remember) are painting Haddonfield Heights as this deceptively idyllic neighborhood nestled right under the iconic water tower. They describe it as a "warm, tight-knit neighborhood that hides terror behind every picket fence and perfectly manicured lawn." Think quaint homes, leafy front yards, and those winding side streets perfect for either a desperate escape or a stealthy stalk. The trailer definitely gives you a taste of that simmering dread – that feeling that something wicked is lurking just around the corner. And trust me, it works.

So, how will this play out? As a civilian, you'll be scrambling to find supplies, trying to usher panicked residents to safety, and desperately searching for a phone to call the cops before Michael inevitably catches up. On the other hand, if you're playing as Michael Myers – well, you get to prowl in the shadows, utilizing abilities like "Shape Jump" to teleport across the map and unleash some classic, terrifying jump scares. I mean, who *doesn't* want to do that?

“This neighborhood allowed us to reimagine the tension of Haddonfield in a way that feels both intimate and terrifying,” says IllFonic design director Jordan Mathewson in a press release. He added, “We wanted players to feel the comfort of the neighborhood they recognize from the film right before we turn it into a panic. Every hedge, hallway, and backyard was built to heighten suspense and reward clever play, whether you’re hunting or being hunted." High praise, but judging from the trailer, they might just pull it off. The devil, as they say, is in the details, and it sounds like they're really sweating the details here.

Mark your calendars, folks! Halloween is set to drop on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. A long way off, sure, but good things are worth waiting for. And if you're itching for more intel in the meantime, Game Informer has snagged an exclusive interview with IllFonic, so be sure to check that out.

So, spill the beans! Are you hyped for Halloween? Is Haddonfield Heights giving you the chills already? Let me know what you think down in the comments – I'm dying to hear your thoughts!
