'Platonic' Season 3 SHOCKER! What This Means For Seth & Rose!

Great news for fans of awkward, hilarious mid-life crises! Apple has officially renewed *Platonic*, the comedy series starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, for a third season. This announcement comes hot on the heels of the season two finale, which dropped just last month and left us all wondering: will they *actually* open that bar?

'Platonic' Season 3 SHOCKER! What This Means For S...

For those who haven’t jumped on the *Platonic* bandwagon (seriously, what are you waiting for?), the show centers on the hilariously messy relationship between Sylvia (Byrne) and Will (Rogen), two former best friends who reconnect after a long period of silence. Season two really cranked up the chaos, throwing in a failed wedding for Will, a burgeoning party-planning career for Sylvia, and the existential struggles of her author-husband Charlie, played brilliantly by Luke Macfarlane. Even Byrne’s real-life hubby, Bobby Cannavale, popped in for a cameo as Charlie's, uh, *inspiration*. It’s a tangled web of friendship, ambition, and the ever-present fear of growing older, all served with a generous helping of deadpan humor.

And let's be honest, the comedic timing between Rogen and Byrne is pure gold. They play off each other with such natural ease, it feels like you're eavesdropping on a real (albeit slightly dysfunctional) friendship. The supporting cast is equally stellar, with Andrew Lopez stealing scenes as Will's former (and exasperated) boss, Reggie, and Carla Gallo perfectly embodying the slightly-too-involved friend, Katie.

[SPOILER ALERT, but seriously, go watch season two!] The season two finale saw Will and Sylvia, after much soul-searching and ridiculous schemes, deciding to circumvent a pesky non-compete clause by...opening a bar together. Yes, the aptly named "Sh*tty Little Bar" might actually become a reality. This sets the stage perfectly for season three. I can already picture the endless opportunities for comedic mishaps, questionable business decisions, and the inevitable blurring of friendship lines as they navigate the world of small business ownership. The potential for cringe-worthy customer interactions alone is enough to get me excited.

Created by Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, *Platonic* is a production of Sony Pictures Television. Stoller and Delbanco, along with Byrne, and Conor Welch, serve as executive producers, as do Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver for Point Grey Pictures. Speaking of Stoller and Delbanco, they expressed their excitement, saying, “We couldn’t be more excited to get back into the world of Platonic with our amazing partners, Rose and Seth and Sony and Apple.”

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV, echoed that enthusiasm, stating, “*Platonic* is proof there is no duo better at making us belly laugh at mid-life crises than Seth and Rose. Nick and Francesca accomplished the rare feat of taking the show to the next level in season two, and, along with our partners at Sony, we can’t wait to see what they cook up for season three.” I couldn’t agree more. Bring on the bar, the awkwardness, and the belly laughs. Season three can't come soon enough!
