Springs, Eternal: Lost Souls Find Peace in New Lo-Fi Adventure?!
Gaming News 05 December 2025

Well, color me intrigued. Remember Gone Home? That indie darling that had everyone tearing up about family secrets and riot grrl anthems back in 2013? The studio behind it, Fullbright, just dropped a trailer for their new project, and it's quite a departure. It's called *Springs, Eternal*, and it's promising a very different kind of emotional journey.

Springs, Eternal: Lost Souls Find Peace in New Lo-...

Forget teenage angst and Pacific Northwest rain; *Springs, Eternal* is diving headfirst into the realm of lost souls and contemplative quiet. The game is described as a "lo-fi narrative adventure," which honestly sounds incredibly appealing right now. Imagine a chill, atmospheric experience where you can wander through a "half-remembered otherworld" with nary a jump scare in sight. Sign me up. The concept alone is a big step from their previous work in *Gone Home* and *Tacoma*.

The setting is Stillwater, an isolated mountain retreat – a place for lost souls to, well, find a little peace. The narrative revolves around your character's memories of a past relationship, pieced together through flashbacks as you explore the environment. Think winding paths, soothing waters, and an overarching sense of melancholic beauty. It sounds like the perfect game to curl up with on a rainy afternoon – maybe with a cup of tea and a weighted blanket.

What's really grabbing my attention is the promise of interaction. The game features an "open-structure" world, encouraging exploration of locations like pools, saunas, and caverns. More importantly, you'll encounter over a dozen other characters, each with their own unique stories and perspectives. We're talking philosophers, tattooists, and who knows what else. Branching dialogue will allow you to delve into their lives and uncover the secrets of Stillwater. It sounds like a real opportunity to connect with characters on a deeper level, which is something Fullbright has always excelled at. The announcement mentions ominous dark paths, but with the assurance that you can't die... or *can* you?

Of course, it's important to acknowledge the context surrounding Fullbright. As many will remember, the studio faced significant internal challenges a few years back. Co-founder Steve Gaynor confirmed in 2023 that Fullbright was now essentially a solo project after acknowledging "hurtful" workplace behavior that led to a split with the rest of the team. That said, it will be interesting to see what a solo effort looks like for him.

So, when can we expect to escape to Stillwater? *Springs, Eternal* is slated for a PC release sometime next year. No specific date yet, but it will be available on Steam. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one. It's got the potential to be something truly special, a soothing balm for the weary soul. We will have to wait and see if it lives up to the potential, but I am hopeful.
