Jávea is ready to sparkle this Christmas! The town has just released its official Christmas programme, and let me tell you, it's jam-packed. After last year's success, they're doing the consolidated schedule thing again, which honestly, is such a relief. No more hunting down different leaflets to figure out what's going on. Everything's in one place – brilliant!
Javea Christmas: Secret Guide Unlocks Festive Magi...
The festive switch was flipped on December 3rd, bathing the Historic Centre, Duanes de la Mar, and l’Arenal in twinkling Christmas lights. I actually drove through the Arenal last night, and it really does look magical. From now right through to January 6th, Jávea is promising a whirlwind of culture, music, sports, and family fun. Prepare yourselves!
Seriously, the sheer variety is impressive. We're talking children's workshops, theatrical productions, concerts galore, storytelling, charity fairs (always a good cause!), "PlayJove" for the teens (thank goodness for something to keep them occupied!), and a whole heap of sporting events. It genuinely seems like they've tried to cater for absolutely everyone, which is a nice touch.
Of course, the big one, the event everyone anticipates, is the arrival of the Three Kings on January 5th. They arrive by boat at the Port of Xàbia, which is always a spectacle, and then lead a massive procession through town. If you've never seen it, it's definitely worth making the effort. The kids go absolutely wild for it. Trust me, get there early to snag a good viewing spot – it gets packed!
Music will be a huge part of the celebrations. Expect performances from the Centro Artístico Musical de Xàbia, various local bands, sweet children's choirs, and traditional ensembles. I'm particularly looking forward to the traditional music; it really adds a special, authentic feel to the season. Those concerts are just the ticket to infuse some Christmas cheer.
Don't miss the Christmas Charity Fair on Paseo Jaime I this Sunday, December 7th. It’s always a vibrant day out, with local associations raising money for good causes. There’s also a magic show (who doesn’t love a bit of magic?), Zumba (burn off those Christmas cookies!), workshops for the kids, and even circus performances. The whole seafront will be buzzing.
For the younger crowd, PlayJove is putting on dance workshops, DJ sessions, and even paintball – yes, paintball! Meanwhile, the little ones will be kept busy with creative workshops at the Casa de Cultura, games in Jávea Park, and storytelling in Xàbia Port. Something for everyone, I tell you.
And finally, the Riurau d’Arnauda is transforming into the Real Camp again. This is where the little ones can deliver their letters to the Three Kings’ emissaries. It's a truly magical experience, with workshops, crafts, and storytelling, running from January 3rd to 4th. Also, from December 29th to January 4th, keep an eye out for the traditional royal postboxes popping up in the Historic Centre, Port, and Arenal, so the kids can get their last-minute wish lists in!
