Istanbul's stock market is riding high! The BIST 100 index kicked off Tuesday's trading session with a bang, surging 0.34% right out of the gate to a record-breaking 11,741.47 points. This isn't just a blip; it's a continuation of the positive trend we saw yesterday, where the index jumped 1.77% and closed at an all-time high of 11,702.00 points.

So, what's fueling this rally? Well, the banking sector is showing strength, up 0.19%, and holding companies are also contributing with a 0.33% increase. Looking deeper into the sectors, financial leasing and factoring are leading the charge, soaring 1.15%. However, it's not all sunshine and roses; textiles and leather are taking a hit, down 2.31%. It's always interesting to see the contrasting fortunes within the market.
Despite some serious geopolitical tensions simmering in various parts of the world, global markets are surprisingly resilient. A lot of this is thanks to the continued strength of technology stocks, which seem almost impervious to bad news these days. Plus, there's the underlying optimism that the U.S. Federal Reserve might start cutting interest rates sometime soon. That's always a shot in the arm for investor confidence.
Of course, everyone's watching the data like hawks. Analysts are keeping a close eye on Turkey's real effective exchange rates and key global economic indicators. We're talking about the service sector and composite Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data, as well as inflation figures coming out of Germany. All of these numbers paint a piece of the puzzle, and understanding how they fit together is crucial for predicting where the market is headed next. I remember when I first started covering the markets, I found all these acronyms completely baffling! Now, they're practically second nature.
From a technical perspective, the BIST 100 is facing resistance at 11,800 and then 11,900 points. If it breaks through those levels, we could see further gains. On the downside, support lies at 11,600 and 11,500 points. A drop below those levels might signal a potential pullback. It's going to be an interesting week to watch!
