Steam just wrapped up an absolutely monster holiday season in December 2025, and the numbers are frankly staggering. According to recent reports, the platform raked in an estimated $1.6 billion in gross revenue during the holiday period. While a rising tide lifts all boats, one title stood head and shoulders above the rest: Arc Raiders.
Steam Holiday Sales SHOCKER! Did *Your* Favorite G...
Alinea Analytics, a firm that tracks game sales, released its estimates for Steam's holiday performance, covering the period from December 21st to January 5th. They’re saying that Arc Raiders moved a whopping 1.2 million copies on Steam during those two weeks. Think about that for a second. That pushes its Steam total to a cool 7 million, and a jaw-dropping 12 million across all platforms. I mean, wow.
What's the secret sauce? Alinea's report points to the usual suspects: the holiday season buzz combined with a tempting 20% discount. But strategic price cuts were clearly a winning strategy across the board. Look at Detroit: Become Human. It snagged the No. 2 spot with nearly a million units sold (993,000 to be exact). And get this, they slashed the price by a massive 90%, bringing it down to just $4. Who could resist?
Even the behemoth that is Battlefield 6, which has been a top seller all year long, jumped on the holiday discount bandwagon. A 30% price reduction helped it secure the No. 4 spot, selling 706,000 copies on Steam during the holiday rush. It just goes to show, even the biggest games can benefit from a well-timed sale.
Here's the complete rundown of the best-selling games on Steam during the 2025 holiday season, courtesy of Alinea Analytics. And a heads up, some of these gems are still on sale over at Steam and Fanatical, so if you're looking for a deal, now's your chance. (Full disclosure: GameSpot and Fanatical are both owned by Fandom, so there's a little synergy going on there).
Top Selling Steam Games (Dec 21 - Jan 5):
7. Slay the Spire - 590,000 copies
6. R.E.P.O. - 666,000 copies

4. Icarus - 735,000 copies
3. Peak - 779,000 copies
2. Detroit: Become Human - 993,000 copies

So there you have it. Steam absolutely crushed it this holiday season, and Arc Raiders led the charge. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to go check out those discounts myself...
