Well, folks, it looks like the apocalypse is getting a whole lot more… first-person-shooter-y. Tomorrow, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is officially crossing the streams with Amazon's Fallout TV show, bringing a healthy dose of wasteland mayhem to Activision's latest iteration of its flagship franchise. And honestly? I'm kind of excited.
Fallout Invades Call of Duty?! Black Ops 7 Crossov...
As if the impending wasteland wasn't enough, this crossover is strategically timed with the airing of the fourth episode of Fallout's second season. Smart move, Activision. Capitalizing on that sweet, sweet post-apocalyptic buzz. This isn't just a minor skin drop, either. We're talking a full-blown event pass, limited-time modes, and enough Fallout-flavored goodies to make any Vault Dweller giddy.
It's all part of the broader mid-season update for Black Ops 7, dubbed "S01 Reloaded." Now, I've seen mid-season updates before, and some are… less than impressive. But this one sounds like it's bringing the heat. New maps, new modes, new challenges – the whole shebang. And it's not just for multiplayer, either. Zombies, Endgame, and Warzone are all getting a piece of the action, alongside the Fallout-themed additions. Basically, there's something for everyone.
The official press release is promising some seriously cool stuff. A "Deathclaw Hunt Endgame World Event," which, let's be honest, sounds terrifying and amazing in equal measure. "Ghouls and S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Mayhem" in multiplayer. "Project RADS" in Zombies, which I'm assuming involves a whole lot of radiation. And "Power Armor Royale" in Warzone. Power Armor Royale? Sign me up yesterday! Plus, there's apparently a "Quantum Exchange Event" and a new map variant called "Vault Town." It's a veritable post-apocalyptic playground.
Of course, you can always check out the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 x Fallout trailer for a sneak peek. I'm not going to lie, I already did, and it looks pretty darn epic. But, be warned, it might just make you want to pre-order some Nuka-Cola. Or maybe just fire up your console and frag some ghouls. Your choice.
This Season 01 Reloaded update is extensive, so you can find a comprehensive list of all the new content, including the Fallout goodies, online. Trust me, there's a lot to unpack. From what I've seen, it looks like Activision and the Fallout team really put some thought into this, and it has the potential to breathe some new life into Black Ops 7. I’ll be logging in tomorrow to check it out, that's for sure.
The collaboration, along with the entirety of Season 01 Reloaded, launches tomorrow, January 8th. If you want to get prepped, read Game Informer's review of Fallout Season 2, and their Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 review. Happy gaming, wasteland wanderers!
