Witcher 3 Expansion: Dune?! Fans STUNNED by Leaked Details!
Gaming News 08 January 2026

The rumor mill is churning, and this time it's about something a lot of us Witcher fans have been dreaming of: more Geralt of Rivia. Specifically, whispers of a *third* expansion for the legendary "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" just won't die, and this time they come with an intriguing twist. Apparently, some early ideas floated around the CD Projekt RED offices involved a "Dune-style" setting. Color me intrigued.

Witcher 3 Expansion: Dune?! Fans STUNNED by Leaked...

This latest buzz stems from a report by IGN Poland, who claim their sources have been aware of potential expansion plans for quite some time. Now, it's important to remember that gaming rumors are like whispers down a long hallway – they can get distorted and misconstrued along the way. That being said, IGN Poland points to Zerrikania, a vast desert region east of the existing game map, as the potential locale. A Witcher in the desert? Suddenly, everything feels very fresh, even for a game I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into. I mean, imagine Geralt dealing with sandstorms and exotic beasts…the possibilities are endless!

Zerrikania isn't pulled out of thin air, either. As the report notes, the "Blood and Wine" expansion already hinted at the Zerrikanian Manticore School. And, of course, characters in the game occasionally drop references to this mysterious land. These aren't just throwaway lines; they're breadcrumbs that might lead somewhere. What also helps is that The Manticore School is also included in the Witcher tabletop RPG. I've always felt the world of the Witcher was so richly detailed, with so many untapped corners. Exploring Zerrikania would be a fantastic way to flesh out that lore even further.

Eurogamer rightly points out that CD Projekt's release schedule is looking a little…sparse. "The Witcher 4" isn't expected until at least 2027, and Cyberpunk 2 is following even later. They also have a new IP brewing, but that's even further off on the horizon. So, there is space this year for CD Projekt Red to unleash something small but sweet for fans. Could this be the perfect opportunity for a "Witcher 3" expansion to fill that gap?

While these rumors *could* be about a smaller "Witcher" spin-off, all signs point to a substantial expansion for the game that captured so many of our imaginations. I think it would be a great idea to help bridge the gap until the next installment comes to fruition. CD Projekt Red has cautioned fans not to expect a 2026 launch for "The Witcher 4" as an ambitious six-year roadmap for The Witcher 5 and The Witcher 6 awaits. However, before all that, a fresh slice of content from The Continent, and a fresh slice of content, could potentially help bridge the gap.
