Alright, Predator fans, listen up! After a bit of a wait (longer than usual, if you ask me – usually these things drop around the theatrical release), the physical versions of *Predator: Badlands* are finally up for preorder. Yes, that includes the coveted Limited Edition Steelbook. So, fire up those Amazon and Walmart accounts and get ready to snag your copy.
Predator Fans, Get Ready! Badlands 4K Steelbook Pr...
The new *Predator* installment, which is a standalone film (thank goodness, some of those sequels got a little… convoluted), will officially hit shelves on February 17th. You'll have your choice of 4K Blu-ray, standard 1080p Blu-ray, and even DVD, for those of you still rocking the old tech. But let's be honest, we're all here for the Steelbook. You can currently preorder the *Predator: Badlands* Limited Edition Steelbook on Amazon for around $45. Not bad, considering what some of these limited editions go for.
While you're there, might as well check out some other deals, right? Amazon’s got some discounts on *Predator* movie box sets and even *Prey* on 4K Blu-ray. And for all you *Alien* fans (let's face it, if you like Predator, there's a good chance you like Alien), you can find Alien 4K Blu-rays starting at a ridiculously low $13, and a 6-Film Blu-ray Box Set for just $25. Seriously, that's a steal.
So, what do you get with this fancy Steelbook? Well, it includes both the 4K UHD and 1080p Blu-ray discs, plus a digital code for Movies Anywhere. More importantly, the steelbook itself looks pretty slick. The cover art features Dek, the young Predator from the movie, leaping towards Kalisk, the creature he’s hunting on the extremely dangerous planet Genna. The artwork continues around to the back, and the inside features Dek and his partner Thia. Nice touch.
Technically speaking, *Predator: Badlands* is presented in native 4K (2160p) with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. The 4K edition also boasts Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound. Get ready to rattle your windows! And for those who need it, there's Dolby Digital 2.0 Descriptive Audio. Audio tracks are available in English, Spanish, and French, with subtitles in all three languages. No excuses for missing the action!
And of course, both the 4K and 1080p Blu-ray editions include a bunch of behind-the-scenes featurettes, an audio commentary track with director Dan Trachtenberg, and some deleted scenes with commentary. Always fun to see what didn’t make the cut. The special features look pretty comprehensive, covering everything from creature design to filming locations.
Here's a quick rundown of the special features:
- Embodying the Predator: Meet the artists who design the creatures in Badlands.
- Authentic Synthetics: Elle Fanning discusses playing two characters.
- Building the Badlands: Behind-the-scenes look at filming locations and how they are transformed.
- Dek of the Yautja: Insights into the development of the Predators in Badlands.
- Audio Commentary: director Dan Trachtenberg, producer Ben Rosenblatt, photography director Jeff Cutter, stunt coordinator Jacob Tomuri
- 6 Deleted & Pre-Visualization Scenes: Commentated by director and filmmakers.
You can preorder the *Predator: Badlands* Limited Edition Steelbook now on Amazon and Walmart. Happy hunting!
