MLB Free Agency Frenzy: Where Will These 5 Superstars Land?!
Sports 12 January 2026

Alright folks, buckle up! With the dust settling after Alex Bregman's unexpected switcheroo to the Cubs (remember that Red Sox blip?), the MLB free agent market is heating up again. We already took a deep dive into the top pitching prospects out there, and now it's time to shine a spotlight on the position players still waiting for their call. Let's get into it!

MLB Free Agency Frenzy: Where Will These 5 Superst...

First off, a word of advice for Brian Cashman and the Yankees: Don't you dare try to lowball Kyle Tucker by leaning on Aaron Judge's star power. Tucker's looking at a monster contract, easily north of $400 million, putting him right up there with the Ohtanis and Sotos of the world. We're talking $40 million+ per year. Now, I know the Yankees are reportedly still in talks with Cody Bellinger (though things seem a bit stuck), but think bigger! A ten-year commitment to Tucker would not only solidify the Yankees' lineup for years to come, but also ensure they remain competitive as Judge inevitably ages. Judge is turning 34 in April – Father Time waits for no one!

Speaking of teams making moves, the Toronto Blue Jays have been on a tear this offseason. They snagged Japanese sensation Kazuma Okamoto (who's apparently pretty flexible position-wise) and picked up Dylan Cease, plus extended Shane Bieber. Let's not forget Cody Ponce and Tyler Rogers joining the squad too! After striking out on Ohtani in the past, it seems Toronto's finally becoming a destination for free agents who want to win. They're spending money, and it's showing.

Now, some folks are whispering that Okamoto's $60 million deal might nix any chance of Bo Bichette returning. I'm not so sure. While third base is Okamoto's bread and butter, he can also handle first and the outfield. Plus, Bichette looked pretty darn good at second base during the World Series, even with a bum knee! While the Blue Jays have expressed interest in Tucker, Bichette, at 27, is younger and probably cheaper. Ultimately, I think the Jays are still the favorites to keep Bichette around, unless they pull off a shocker and land Tucker.

Finally, let's talk about Eugenio Suárez. He's projected to fetch around $20-25 million a year on a three-year deal, which really opens up his market. He becomes an option for those smaller-market teams. Remember, the Tigers were sniffing around Suárez at last year's trade deadline, but ultimately decided to hold onto their prospects. Could they revisit that interest? It's definitely something to watch. The free agent frenzy isn't over yet, folks! Stay tuned!
