LA Protest Turns Deadly? Truck Ramming Caught on Video!
Current Affairs 12 January 2026

Chaos erupted in Los Angeles this weekend as a truck plowed through a crowd of demonstrators protesting against the Iranian government. The incident, which took place in Westwood, left several injured and sparked a frenzy of activity that quickly went viral on social media. The protest itself was meant to show solidarity with the ongoing unrest in Iran, fueled by recent economic woes and spiraling inflation – problems that, frankly, are becoming all too familiar these days.

Videos circulating online paint a pretty disturbing picture. You see a white U-Haul truck barreling down the street, seemingly intentionally driving into the crowd. People are scattering, shouting, and one person is even clinging to the roof of the moving vehicle. It's the kind of scene you expect to see in a movie, not on a sunny afternoon in LA.

Once the truck finally stopped, the crowd’s reaction was swift and, predictably, angry. Protesters swarmed the vehicle, smashing the windshield and side windows. Some even tried to get to the driver with flagpoles before police officers intervened to try and restore some semblance of order. I mean, you can understand the rage, but violence definitely isn't the answer.

Local ABC affiliate reports confirm that the crowd managed to pull the driver from the truck before police took him into custody. As of now, official arrests haven't been formally announced. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and evaluated two people for injuries. Thankfully, neither needed to be transported to the hospital. So, while injuries occurred, it sounds like it could have been a lot worse.

Adding another layer to the story, the truck itself was covered in signs. One message in particular stood out: "No Shah. No Regime. USA: Don’t Repeat 1953. No Mullah." This seems to be a clear reference to the 1953 CIA-backed coup that removed Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh from power. It’s a pointed reminder of the complex and often fraught relationship between the US and Iran, a relationship that continues to fuel tensions today. This whole incident just underscores the depth of feeling surrounding Iranian politics, even here in the United States. You can find more details about this developing story over at RT.com.
