Mijas is gearing up for a fantastic day on the green, and it's all for a worthy cause. Golfers are invited to dust off their clubs and head to La Cala Resort on Sunday, February 8th, for a Charity golf tournament benefiting ACE (Animal Care España), the much-loved animal shelter based in La Cala de Mijas.

The tournament will take place on the prestigious Campo Asia course, recently crowned "Best Golf Hotel in Spain," according to some pretty reputable sources. It's a beautiful course, and what better way to enjoy it than by supporting animals in need? The organizers are expecting a good turnout, with at least 80 participants anticipated to compete in teams of four using the ever-popular Texas Scramble format. Registration kicks off at 8:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. So, set your alarms folks!
But the fun doesn't stop on the 18th green! Following the tournament, all participants, and even those who just want to support the cause, are welcome to a lunch with drinks included. Let's be honest, who can resist a good post-golf lunch? Plus, there will be a range of prizes up for grabs, from trophies for the top three teams to awards for "nearest the pin," "longest drive," and even a chance to "beat the pro." Bragging rights are definitely on the line.
Now, let's get down to the nitty-gritty. The entry fee is €90 per player, which covers your golf, lunch, and drinks. But here's the best part: €25 from each entry will be directly donated to ACE, a registered Spanish charity (CIF G93514973) that's been making a real difference in the lives of abandoned and abused animals for over 26 years.
ACE, under the tireless leadership of Fabienne Paques, along with her late husband's devotion, dedicates its efforts to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming these vulnerable creatures across the Costa del Sol and beyond. Running entirely on donations, they care for over 500 dogs and 200 cats. It's a massive undertaking, and every euro counts. In fact, they are currently facing an urgent need to raise €5,000 for a new generator to power their clinic after the previous one was damaged during Storm Francis. I can only imagine the disruption that caused!
So, come on down to La Cala Resort on February 8th. Enjoy a fantastic round of golf, meet some great people, and most importantly, contribute to a cause that truly makes a difference. It's a chance to have fun and help vulnerable animals find their forever homes. I know I'll be there (probably in the rough, if I'm being honest!), and I hope to see you there too!
