Alright manga fans, listen up! If you've been holding off on diving into the gritty, cyberpunk world of *Battle Angel Alita*, now's the time to strike. Amazon is currently offering the *Battle Angel Alita: Deluxe Edition Series Box Set* for an insane price of just $80. Considering it normally retails for $180, that's a full $100 off. Seriously, this is the lowest price I've seen on this box set in at least seven years – maybe ever. We’re talking a complete steal here.
Alita Fans Rejoice! Manga Box Set Hits Record Low ...
This isn't just some cheap paperback collection either. This is the deluxe edition, published by Kodansha Comics back in December 2018. It's a hefty six-volume set, clocking in at a massive 2,392 pages of cyberpunk goodness, all bound in beautiful hardcover. For those unfamiliar, *Battle Angel Alita* is considered a cornerstone of the cyberpunk manga genre, and this deluxe edition really does it justice.
And speaking of Kodansha, if you're like me and can't get enough of this high-quality manga, you might be interested to know they've got a *Ghost in the Shell Legacy Edition Deluxe Box Set* coming out soon. It's up for preorder on Amazon right now for $119 (down from $140). Mark your calendars for February 17th!
But back to Alita. What makes this box set so special? Well, for starters, it compiles Yukito Kishiro's original nine-volume run into six gorgeous hardcover volumes. Plus, this deluxe edition boasts a brand-new translation that's much more faithful to the original Japanese. Remember those color pages that were missing from the initial English releases? They're back! Each hardcover also has new cover art, and the slipcase is adorned with original character art on all sides. The attention to detail is just fantastic.
Each of the first four books contains two volumes (around 430-450 pages each). Book 5 wraps up the original story and includes *Ashen Victor*, a cool side story set before the main plot. And Book 6? That's a collection of previously unpublished-in-English *Battle Angel Alita* stories called *Holy Night and Other Stories*. Trust me, these are a real treat for any Alita fan.
On top of all that manga, you also get three art cards (two with silver foil accents!), interviews with Kishiro, and even an alternate ending to the original series. Honestly, for $80, this box set is an absolute no-brainer. I remember when Kodansha released these individually for $30 a pop back in 2017-2018. Even if you found deals on the individual books today, you'd still end up spending way more than the box set price. Right now, buying them separately would set you back about $156.
If you need a quick refresher, *Battle Angel Alita* takes place in the Scrapyard, a lawless wasteland beneath the floating city of Zalem. Dr. Daisuke Ido finds the head of a cyborg, gives her a new body, names her Alita, and sets her on a path to rediscover her forgotten past and her destiny as a formidable warrior. It's a fantastic story, and this box set is the perfect way to experience it (or re-experience it!). Don’t miss out – this deal probably won’t last long.
