Battlefield 6 Season 2 DELAYED! What Will Happen Now?!
Gaming News 14 January 2026

Okay, Battlefield fans, brace yourselves. While Battlefield 6 (yes, I'm calling it that, despite the confusing naming history) had a pretty solid first season after its October launch, it seems Season 2 is going to be a little late to the party. Originally slated to drop around January 20th, EA and Battlefield Studios have announced a delay, pushing Season 2 back to February. Now, before you sharpen your pitchforks, there's some good news.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 DELAYED! What Will Happen N...

That's right, instead of just leaving us hanging, they're extending Season 1 and dropping some fresh content to tide us over. Think of it as an appetizer before the main course. According to the official announcement, we can expect the Season One extension update to land on January 20th. This isn't just a simple time extension, though. They're throwing in new weekly challenges, a "Bonus Path," and a continuation of the existing Season One Battle Pass. So, plenty to keep you grinding for those unlocks.

Speaking of that Bonus Path, dubbed the "Frostfire Bonus Path," that's hitting on January 27th. What's in store? Well, think new customization rewards, including a Weapon Package, a Soldier Skin, and those sweet, sweet XP Boosts we all crave. And listen up, this is important: after some criticism of past bonus challenges, this new path will only progress using regular weekly challenges. Smart move, guys. Plus, you can work on it alongside the main Battle Pass, so no need to choose!

Of course, premium pass holders won't be forgotten. Expect some extra cosmetics to make you feel like you're getting your money's worth. More details on those are promised soon, so keep an eye out. But wait, there's more! Valentine's Day is coming, and Battlefield isn't missing out. Get ready to "commit to your duo," as they put it, with themed events. Plus, we're getting Daily Login Rewards and several Double XP Weekends throughout this extended Season One period. So, plenty of incentive to hop in and play.

It's worth noting that this delay comes at a difficult time for Battlefield Studios. The recent passing of Vince Zampella, who was essentially the guy in charge of steering the Battlefield ship, is undoubtedly having an impact. He was instrumental in getting the series back on track after the missteps of 2042, so his absence is keenly felt. Hopefully, the extra time will allow the team to polish Season 2 and deliver something truly special. In the meantime, at least we have some new content and events to keep us busy. I'm definitely looking forward to those Double XP Weekends... gotta max out that Battle Pass, right?
