Keshet International (KI) has just landed a real gem for the upcoming London TV Screenings. Forget the usual suspects; they're bringing Channel 5’s *Number One Fan*, a brand new daytime drama series, and let me tell you, it sounds like a deliciously twisted watch. It's going to be a headline grabber, that's for sure.
Daytime TV Drama Gets Cutthroat: What Happens Next...
The series, which was only announced by Paramount-owned Channel 5 earlier this week, stars the ever-brilliant Jill Halfpenny as Lucy, a television presenter living the daytime dream... or so it seems. Enter Sally Lindsay as Donna, the self-proclaimed, you guessed it, "Number One Fan." The premise? Donna heroically saves Lucy from an assault, kicking off what quickly spirals into an obsessive relationship. We've all met *that* fan, haven't we? Though hopefully not *quite* like Donna!
Initially, Lucy, understandably, is all gratitude and flattered by the attention. She even invites Donna to be part of her studio audience. But as these things often do, Donna's presence becomes increasingly… persistent. You can practically feel the tension building already, can’t you? I know I can.
Kelly Wright, KI's distribution head, seems confident they've got a winner on their hands. She’s calling *Number One Fan* a "smart, provocative thriller that will keep buyers and audiences guessing right to the end." And honestly, the synopsis alone has me hooked. It taps into that universal fear of the overly zealous admirer, amplified by the public nature of Lucy’s job.
KI's SVP Acquisitions, Anke Stoll, also highlighted the team's enthusiasm to finally collaborate with Clapperboard, the production company behind the series. It seems this project has been a long time coming, a real passion project for all involved. Benson and Suzi McIntosh are executive producers for Clapperboard, with Brett Wilson (known for *Murder Most Puzzling*, *Sherwood*, and *Catch Me A Killer*) serving as producer. The writing team is led by Rachel Kilfeather (*Vikings: Valhalla*, *Small Town, Big Story*), and features Marcus Fleming (*Smother*, *Blackshore*). Paul Wilmshurst (*The Day of the Jackal*, *The Last Kingdom*) is directing, which only adds to the already impressive pedigree.
Sebastian Cardwell, Deputy Chief Content Officer and Head of Scripted at Paramount UK, is the one who gave the green light for the series, and you can bet he's feeling pretty good about that decision right now. This is exactly the kind of show that gets people talking, the kind that trends on social media, and frankly, the kind I’m already setting a reminder to watch. The London Screenings are shaping up to be quite interesting this year!
