Hold onto your Stimpaks, folks! It looks like the irradiated wastes are creeping back into the world of Magic: The Gathering. Hot on the heels of the wildly successful Fallout Commander decks released earlier this year, Wizards of the Coast is teasing a brand new Secret Lair drop themed around… you guessed it, Fallout! But this time, there's a twist.
Fallout's Back in Magic! You Won't Believe the Twi...
Forget just the video games; this new collaboration is drawing heavy inspiration from the Prime Video series. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about the show at first, but it really captured the essence of the Fallout universe. And judging by the teaser banner that popped up on the Secret Lair website, it's going to be a key component of this release.
The banner itself is pretty revealing. We've got Dogmeat (CX404), looking as loyal as ever (seriously, who *doesn't* love Dogmeat?). Then there's a close-up of a Lucky 38 casino chip – a clear nod to New Vegas and Mr. House, perhaps? But the real kicker is Lucy, the Vault 33 dweller brought to life by Ella Purnell in the Prime Video adaptation. It's a pretty cool mix of elements, if you ask me.
Now, specifics are still shrouded in that lovely post-apocalyptic mystery we all know and love. We don't know how many individual drops will be included in this Fallout bonanza, or even what specific cards we can expect. I'm personally hoping for a powerful Lucy planeswalker card, maybe with some Vault-Tec synergy. A man can dream, right? For context, the recent PlayStation superdrop featured a whopping seven drops themed after iconic PlayStation titles like Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us. So, the possibilities are pretty vast.
This announcement comes at an interesting time, right before the prerelease for Lorwyn Eclipsed, which is the first big Magic: The Gathering expansion of 2026. That set is a return to the plane of Lorwyn after almost two decades and will bring back all the familiar faces like kithkin, elementals, elves, and those pesky boggarts. I'm looking forward to revisiting that setting, but I'm equally excited about the Fallout crossover! Lorwyn Eclipsed will hit retailers and local game stores on January 23rd. So, plenty of Magic to look forward to in the near future.
So, keep your eyes peeled for more information on this Fallout Secret Lair drop. I'm betting we'll get more details soon. In the meantime, I'm going to go craft some more RadAway – just in case.
