World's Best Cruise Destination 2025 REVEALED! Prepare to be Amazed!
Current Affairs 17 January 2026

Okay, folks, ditch the Caribbean daydream for a minute. For the second year running, Abu Dhabi has snagged the title of World's Best Cruise Destination for 2025. Yep, you read that right. While we’re all picturing turquoise waters and reggae music, the smart money (and apparently, the cruise lines) is heading to the UAE.

Now, I’ll admit, I was a bit surprised myself. But the more you dig into it, the more it makes sense. The World Cruise Awards, which are kind of a big deal in the cruise world, handed Abu Dhabi the crown – and also named it the Middle East’s Best Cruise Destination. So, it's not just a fluke.

What's their secret? Well, apparently, it’s a dual-port strategy. Think of it as offering cruise passengers two vacations in one. The main port, Zayed Port Cruise Terminal, drops you smack-dab in the middle of Abu Dhabi's cultural scene. We're talking museums, history, all that good stuff. Then you've got Sir Bani Yas Cruise Beach, which is basically the opposite: a serene island escape with beaches, wildlife safaris, and all the water sports you can handle. I'm picturing myself sipping something fruity on that beach right now, honestly.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has been working overtime to make this happen. They've really invested in the infrastructure and made the whole experience seamless, from arrival to departure. They're not messing around. It's paid off big time, too, with nearly 700,000 cruise passenger arrivals just this year. That's a massive jump from where they were a few years ago, making the capital city a force to be reckoned with.

Honestly, it’s a smart move on their part. Instead of just being a quick stopover on some longer cruise, Abu Dhabi is becoming a destination in its own right. Cruise lines are looking for something new to offer passengers, and this city is delivering. A cultural experience AND a relaxing beach getaway? Who wouldn't want that? I think we're going to be seeing Abu Dhabi at the top of these lists for a long time to come. Maybe it's time I book a cruise myself – purely for research purposes, of course.
