Saturday Night Live, never one to shy away from poking fun at internet trends, delivered a hilarious take on the viral sensation "Heated Rivalry" this week. But instead of hockey players with a secret longing for each other, we got… well, wizards. Specifically, a secret romance between Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Yes, you read that right.

Harry & Ron?! SNL's Shocking Harry Potter Twist Ha...

The sketch, aptly titled "Heated Wizardry," didn't just lampoon the original series. It cleverly addressed the sheer cultural behemoth the Harry Potter franchise has become. The premise? Harry (played by Finn Wolfhard) and Ron (Ben Marshall) discover their feelings for each other while, naturally, reaching for the same wand. It's a pretty simple setup, but the execution is what made it truly shine.

SNL really went all-in on the absurdity. James Austin Johnson’s Snape was absolutely priceless, deducting points from Gryffindor for nudity during a Quidditch match. I mean, come on, that's just classic Snape. And then Ashley Padilla as Professor McGonagall swooped in, awarding "a hundred points for my spank bank." It's the kind of unexpected, off-the-wall humor that SNL sometimes nails perfectly, and this was one of those times.

But perhaps the most pointed commentary came in the form of a disclaimer that flashed across the screen: "I am not a part of this," attributed to J.K. Rowling. It was a direct reference to the author’s controversial stance on transgender issues. It’s a delicate subject, to be sure, but SNL found a way to address it with a mix of humor and pointed critique, acknowledging the elephant in the room without letting it completely derail the joke.

The episode was also jam-packed with cameos. Sabrina Carpenter reprised her "Snack Homiez" role (a deep cut for some viewers, I’m sure), and "Stranger Things" stars Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin popped up to add to the comedic chaos. However, the real showstopper was Jason Momoa as a Hagrid surrogate. He delivered the line, "You're a homo, Harry," with the perfect blend of tenderness and bewildered acceptance. Honestly, Momoa's cameo alone was worth tuning in for. It was the perfect, slightly awkward, yet ultimately supportive Hagrid-esque moment that sealed the deal. SNL may be hit or miss sometimes, but this sketch definitely hit the mark.
