OSD 2025 Data SHOCK: What Will Happen to Auto Prices NOW?!
Automotive 19 January 2026

The Turkish automotive industry is firing on all cylinders, folks! According to the Automotive Industry Association (OSD), 2025 was a banner year for production and exports, despite some interesting shifts within the sector. Let’s dive into the numbers.

OSD 2025 Data SHOCK: What Will Happen to Auto Pric...

Overall automotive production in Turkey climbed 4% to a hefty 1,419,464 units. Now, here's the twist: while total production is up, automobile production *slightly* dipped by 4%, landing at 872,539 units. But, hold on, commercial vehicles more than picked up the slack, roaring ahead with a 19% increase. Light commercial vehicles are the star here, jumping a massive 21%! Heavy commercial vehicles saw a more modest, but still positive, 1% bump.

This growth in commercial vehicles is crucial, reflecting likely increased demand both domestically and internationally for transport and logistics solutions. I’ve noticed a lot more Turkish-made vans on the roads of Europe lately, so these figures aren't entirely surprising. But it also highlights a potential vulnerability: are we too reliant on the commercial sector for automotive growth? Something to keep an eye on.

Exports mirrored this trend. Total automotive exports grew by 4% to 1,057,920 units. Just like production, automobile exports dipped (8%), but commercial vehicle exports *exploded*, climbing 28%. This is a significant shift in the composition of Turkish automotive exports. Tractor exports, however, took a tumble, decreasing by 13%. It seems like the focus is definitely moving toward moving goods, not tilling fields, at least for now.

Financially, the automotive industry remains a powerhouse. Representing 17.6% of Turkey's total sectoral exports, it’s a major economic driver. The Uludağ Exporters' Associations (UIB) reports total automotive exports at a staggering $41.5 billion. Automobile exports alone accounted for $11.8 billion, a 4% increase. The main industry exports jumped 15% in dollar terms, while the supply industry grew 6%. This shows a healthy, albeit slightly uneven, growth across the entire automotive ecosystem.

Domestically, the market also experienced growth, increasing by 10% to 1,413,903 units. The automobile market was up 11%, hitting 1,084,496 units. Interestingly, domestically produced vehicles only accounted for 30% of automobile sales and 22% of light commercial vehicle sales. This suggests a continued reliance on imported vehicles, a potential area for future policy intervention to bolster local manufacturing. All in all, 2025 was a great year for the Turkish automotive industry, let's hope the industry can keep this momentum going!
