Alright everyone, buckle up! It's Oscar Nomination Day for 2026, and the buzz is already electric. We're live on the scene (well, virtually anyway!), bringing you the nominations as they happen. Word on the street is that Leonardo DiCaprio's "One Battle After Another" is a major heavyweight this year, and honestly, after seeing the trailer, I can understand why. Michael B. Jordan's "Sinners" is also supposedly a big contender. Personally, I'm just hoping for some surprises! It's always more fun that way.
2026 Oscars: Shocking Snubs! Who Got ROBBED?!
The drama's building, that's for sure. Beyond the obvious frontrunners, we're expecting to see "Hamnet," "Marty Supreme," "Frankenstein," "Sentimental Value," "Bugonia," and "The Secret Agent" all vying for those coveted spots. The tension is palpable!
Let's talk about the acting categories. Best Actor is looking fiercely competitive. DiCaprio and Jordan are obviously in the mix, but Timothée Chalamet ("Marty Supreme"), Ethan Hawke ("Blue Moon") and the ever-reliable Jesse Plemons ("Bugonia") are all throwing their hats in the ring. I'm particularly keen to see if Hawke gets a nod; he's been consistently delivering phenomenal performances for years.
On the Best Actress side, the smart money seems to be on Jessie Buckley for "Hamnet." She's been getting rave reviews, and frankly, she's just mesmerizing to watch on screen. Could this finally be her year? Fingers crossed!
Don't think we've forgotten about the animated features! Netflix's "KPop Demon Hunters" is practically a lock for a Best Animated Movie nomination. My kids are obsessed with it, so if it *doesn't* get nominated, I'm going to have some explaining to do! That said, "KPop Demon Hunters" is actually a really great animated movie, even for adults.
And of course, we have Paul Thomas Anderson. The man's a legend. "One Battle After Another" is widely expected to land him yet another Best Director nomination – his *twelfth* if you're keeping count. It's kind of crazy to think he's never actually *won* the Oscar, despite directing masterpieces like "Phantom Thread," "Licorice Pizza," and "There Will Be Blood." Will this be the year he finally breaks the curse?
The big reveal kicks off at 8:30 a.m. ET / 5:30 a.m. PT / 1:30 p.m. UK time. So set your alarms, grab your coffee (or tea, if you're in the UK!), and join us as Lewis Pullman (from "Thunderbolts*") and Danielle Brooks (of "The Color Purple" fame) announce the nominees. And mark your calendars – the awards ceremony itself, hosted by none other than Conan O'Brien, is happening on March 15th. It's shaping up to be an exciting night!
Stay tuned, folks! Our live blog below will be updating in real-time as the nominations are announced. Let the games begin!
