The video purportedly shows individuals believed to be federal agents pinning someone to the ground. Then, someone appears to be striking the person. Finally, gunshots ring out. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has offered its own account of the events, stating that its law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted operation against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault. According to DHS, the man approached officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun and "violently resisted" when they attempted to disarm him. This supposedly led an agent to fire "defensive shots." The DHS also claims the man possessed two magazines, suggesting a more malicious intent, and that approximately 200 "rioters" arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, obstructing and assaulting law enforcement.
