Silksong's Latest Patch Tames the Muckmaggots and Overhauls Chinese Translation
After facing criticism for its punishing difficulty, *Hollow Knight: Silksong* has received a new patch aimed at easing the player experience, particularly in the treacherous Bilewater and Putrified Ducts regions. The update, currently available for PC players, focuses on nerfing the notoriously difficult Muckmaggots, creatures that have been a significant source of frustration for many.

Previously, these pesky enemies devoured Hornet's silk without consequence, forcing players to expend valuable resources simply to restrain them. The new patch introduces a significant change, making it easier to eliminate the Muckmaggots using the Wreath of Purity. This update allows Hornet a chance to heal herself by using a second bind, offering a much-needed advantage against these persistent foes.
Beyond the Muckmaggot adjustment, the patch
Beyond the Muckmaggot adjustment, the patch also addresses a critical issue with the game's Chinese translation. Team Cherry has replaced the original translation with a fan-made version created by Team Cart Fit. The studio lauded the new translation, praising its accuracy and deep understanding of the "dense narrative and lore" of both *Hollow Knight* games. This change comes after the initial translation was met with widespread criticism from native Chinese speakers, leading to review-bombing of the game.
"We are incredibly grateful to Team Cart Fit for their dedication and expertise," stated Team Cherry in a press release. "Their translation captures the essence of *Silksong* and will provide a much more authentic experience for our Chinese-speaking players."
The patch also includes several other quality-of-life improvements. Players will no longer experience repetitive delivery routes from couriers, and rumble compatibility has been expanded to include a wider range of controllers. However, the update isn't entirely about making things easier. Gurr the Outcast, a challenging boss encounter, has been slightly buffed by reducing the time he remains stationary during combat. This subtle adjustment aims to maintain a level of challenge for more experienced players.
While currently exclusive to PC, console players can expect to receive the update in the near future. With these changes, Team Cherry hopes to provide a more balanced and enjoyable experience for all *Silksong* players, addressing key criticisms while maintaining the core gameplay that fans have come to love. The full patch notes are available on the official *Hollow Knight: Silksong* website.
