Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary SHOCK! What's Coming Will Stun You!
Gaming News 25 January 2026

The Dragon Ball universe is about to explode with new content! Over the weekend, the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event in Japan dropped a bombshell of announcements, laying out the franchise's plans for the next few years. And let me tell you, fans have a lot to look forward to, especially in light of Akira Toriyama's recent passing.

Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary SHOCK! What's Coming ...

The biggest news? We're getting not one, but *two* brand new anime TV series! Plus, a completely fresh video game title, and a significant DLC expansion for Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero. It's a veritable feast for Dragon Ball aficionados.

Let's dive into the game first. Tentatively titled "AGE 1000," this new title immediately sparked (pun intended!) memories of Dragon Ball Online. Set in that specific era of the Dragon Ball timeline, AGE 1000 hints at a similar setting for the upcoming game. A rep stated, "We have spent a long time carefully crafting this project. I think this game will allow us to experience a brand new part of the Dragon Ball world." That's quite a promise! We'll have to wait a bit, though, as it's slated for a 2027 launch.

Speaking of games, Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is also getting some serious love. The upcoming DLC will feature an original theme song, "Zero," performed by none other than Hironobu Kageyama, the legendary voice behind so many iconic Dragon Ball Z theme songs. Can you imagine the hype?! Kageyama himself said he was honored to return after 18 years, aiming for "Zero" to be an uplifting and powerful anthem. I'm already getting goosebumps thinking about it.

But wait, there's more! Producer Furutani also announced a *free* DLC, the Mission 100 single-player mode (a nostalgic nod to Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 fans!), launching on January 26 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 players will have to be patient, as that version arrives later.

Now, for the anime! The first new series is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. Iyoku described it as an "enhanced version of the story." This series aims for even greater fidelity to Toriyama's original manga, boasting improved visuals, redrawn and new scenes, reworked narratives, and promises "even more immersive battle scenes" than the original Dragon Ball Super anime. It sounds like they are pulling out all the stops. Look for a trailer to drop sometime in Fall 2026.

The second anime series wasn't fully detailed, but all this exciting news makes the future of Dragon Ball brighter than ever. I can't wait to see what else they have in store!
