Alright, Nintendo fans, brace yourselves! The hype train for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie just got a serious upgrade. Last night, Shigeru Miyamoto himself dropped a brand-new trailer, and let me tell you, it's packed with enough nostalgic goodness to send any longtime player into a happy frenzy.
Super Mario Galaxy Movie: SHOCKING New Characters ...
The two-minute preview is a visual feast, kicking off with Mario and Luigi looking like they accidentally wandered off the set of Dune. Seriously, those outfits! They're investigating a "troubled pipe" (of course they are) in the Tostarena Kingdom. But the real kicker is who they encounter down there. Let's just say, it's a familiar green face we've all been waiting for.
Yes, folks, Yoshi is officially in the building! Or, in this case, the movie. Miyamoto addressed the burning question on everyone's mind: "After the first trailer was released, people were asking, is Yoshi not going to be in the movie?" He chuckled, reassuring fans that the adorable dinosaur has been a vital part of Mario's adventures for over three decades. And thank goodness for that! Can you imagine a Mario adventure without Yoshi? Unthinkable!
Miyamoto even gave us a little history lesson on Yoshi's origins, explaining how the idea sprung from wanting to "run around while on a small dinosaur" during the development of Super Mario World. He added that the sound designer added percussion to the background music which led to Yoshi's birth. Ah, good ol' Yoshi, eating things, stomping baddies, and laying eggs. The little guy has come a long way, hasn't he?
But wait, there's more! The trailer also gave us glimpses of Baby Mario and Luigi, Peach, Toad, and the always-fabulous Birdo. And Luigi in a Frog Suit? Come on, that's pure fan service, and I am here for it! It's clear Illumination is pulling out all the stops to deliver a movie that's both a love letter to the games and a captivating cinematic experience.
Illumination's Chris Meledandri confirmed that the animation is complete. The film is now in post-production and focusing on the music and sound design, including a 70-piece orchestra. That's some serious commitment to audio quality! Plus, alongside Mario and Luigi, the sequel is introducing Bowser Junior and Rosalina, voiced by none other than Brie Larson, who is apparently a massive Nintendo fan. Honestly, the casting choices so far have been spot-on. Now, if they could just give Waluigi a cameo... A guy can dream, right?
