Resident Evil Requiem: Is This The END?! Fans Stunned!
Gaming News 26 January 2026

Alright, folks, buckle up, because after a good chunk of time spent wrestling with the latest build, I can confidently say Resident Evil: Requiem is shaping up to be something truly special. I just wrapped up a three-hour preview event, and let me tell you, the atmosphere alone is enough to give you the chills. Forget the sunshine and breezy vibes of RE5; this is a return to the claustrophobic, resource-scarce horror that made the series a legend.

Resident Evil Requiem: Is This The END?! Fans Stun...

The big draw this time around was getting my hands on a more mature Leon S. Kennedy. Gone is the rookie cop; in his place is a grizzled veteran, clearly carrying the weight of Raccoon City and subsequent horrors on his shoulders. And yes, you read that right, he's wielding chainsaws! Which, honestly, feels incredibly cathartic against the hordes of grotesque creatures Capcom is throwing our way. The chainsaw combat feels weighty and impactful, making every swing a desperate gamble. But it's not just about brute force; you've still got to be strategic about when and where you unleash that glorious engine of destruction.

Beyond Leon's brutal ballet of blood and saw dust, I also got to spend a considerable amount of time with Grace Ashcroft. Let me tell you, she's a welcome addition to the RE universe. Grace offers a different playstyle than Leon. Weaving through the game’s labyrinthine corridors as Grace ratchets up the tension significantly. Her segments emphasize stealth and puzzle-solving, a refreshing change of pace from Leon’s more action-oriented approach. And trust me, you'll need to conserve every bullet you find; ammo is scarcer than hen's teeth in this game.

Visually, Requiem is stunning. The dimly lit environments are rendered with incredible detail, and the creature designs are downright horrifying. I found myself constantly peering around corners, dreading what might be lurking in the shadows. The sound design is equally impressive, with every creak and groan adding to the overall sense of dread. It’s the kind of game that begs to be played with headphones, in a dark room, with the volume cranked up (if you dare!).

Honestly, I went into this preview with high expectations, and Requiem not only met them but exceeded them. It's shaping up to be a truly terrifying and unforgettable experience, a return to form for the Resident Evil franchise. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go lie down in a dark room and try to forget the image of that *thing* I saw in the sewers. Stay tuned for the full review closer to launch!
