Seahawks OC to Raiders?! Shocking Move Stuns NFL! What Happens Next?
Sports 01 February 2026

Las Vegas Raiders fans, get ready. It sounds like the team is close to landing its next head coach, and the name buzzing around the league is Klint Kubiak, currently the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks. While nothing's official just yet, all signs point towards Kubiak heading to the desert.

Seahawks OC to Raiders?! Shocking Move Stuns NFL! ...

Reports are swirling that Kubiak intends to negotiate a deal with the Raiders. It’s a mutual feeling, apparently, as the team was impressed after meeting with him this past Saturday, according to NFL Media sources. He was also reportedly in talks with the Arizona Cardinals, another team with a head coaching vacancy. Given Seattle's deep run into the playoffs this season (they are currently preparing for Super Bowl LX), any official announcement will have to wait until after February 8th. That's just how the NFL's rules work – gotta respect the process.

Kubiak's rise in the coaching world has been nothing short of meteoric. Since taking over as the Seahawks' offensive coordinator in 2025, he’s quickly established himself as one of the brightest offensive minds in the league. You just have to look at the Seahawks' performance this season to understand why. Quarterback Sam Darnold enjoyed a career year under his guidance, and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a frontrunner for Offensive Player of the Year. The stats speak for themselves: Seattle's offense ranked eighth in yards and a very impressive third in scoring. Before his stint in Seattle, Kubiak honed his skills as the New Orleans Saints’ offensive coordinator in 2024 and the San Francisco 49ers’ passing game coordinator in 2023. He's been putting in the work and climbing the ladder, and it seems to be paying off.

It’s not just internal buzz fueling this speculation either. Experts are rating Kubiak highly. FOX Sports’ Henry McKenna ranked him as the fourth-best head coach candidate this offseason, while Ben Arthur, also of FOX Sports, called the Raiders' head coach vacancy the third-most attractive of all available positions. That's pretty high praise all around.

What makes this move particularly intriguing is what Kubiak would inherit in Las Vegas. The Raiders are sitting pretty with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and all indications suggest they're planning to use it to draft Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Kubiak's proven track record of developing quarterbacks makes him an ideal fit to mentor and shape Mendoza into a franchise cornerstone.

And let's not forget, coaching prowess runs in the Kubiak family. His father, Gary Kubiak, is a legend in his own right, having served as the offensive coordinator for those dominant Denver Broncos teams in the '90s and later leading them to a Super Bowl victory as head coach in 2015. Klint even worked under his father with the Minnesota Vikings, first as quarterbacks coach and then as offensive coordinator. So, the younger Kubiak has definitely been learning from one of the best. If this deal goes through, Raiders fans have plenty of reason to be optimistic. This could be the start of something special.
