Alright fashionistas, brace yourselves. Nearly two decades after Miranda Priestly terrorized Runway Magazine (and our collective psyches), the devil’s back. We're talking, of course, about "The Devil Wears Prada 2," and the official trailer has *just* dropped. Get ready to clutch your pearls – or your strategically chosen handbags, darling.
Devil Wears Prada 2 Trailer Drops! Is Miranda Back...
Yes, Meryl Streep, the undisputed queen of icy glares and impeccable tailoring, is reprising her role as Miranda. And that's not all. Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are also returning as Andy, Emily, and Nigel, respectively. Seeing these familiar faces back together is honestly giving me all the feels. I remember watching the first movie in college and thinking, "That's *exactly* what my life will be like." (Spoiler alert: it wasn't, but a girl can dream, right?).
The sequel promises a return to the cutthroat world of high fashion, back to the glossy corridors of Runway and the always-chaotic streets of New York City. David Frankel, who directed the original, is back in the director’s chair, and Aline Brosh McKenna is once again wielding her pen as writer. So, you know we're in good hands. Or at least, experienced ones, ready to deliver more sartorial drama.
But wait, there's more! Prepare for a whole new wave of characters to either adore or despise. The cast list is packed, including the likes of Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet (Timothée's sister!), B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. That's a *lot* of talent. What roles they'll play in Miranda's carefully constructed universe remains to be seen, but I'm betting there will be some ambition, backstabbing, and fabulous outfits involved.
Adding to the delightful sense of continuity, Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman are also returning to their roles as Lily and Irv from the first film. Wendy Finerman is producing, with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and Aline Brosh McKenna serving as executive producers. So a lot of the key players are involved, it seems!
Mark your calendars and start planning your outfits now. "The Devil Wears Prada 2" is slated for an exclusive theatrical release on May 1. I, for one, will be first in line. After all, as Miranda might say, "Details of your incompetence do not interest me." Better come prepared, people. This is going to be *epic*.
