Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reboot?! A24's SHOCKING Take Revealed!
Movies & TV Series 04 February 2026

Hold onto your hats, horror fans. A24, the studio that brought us unsettling masterpieces like "Hereditary" and "The Witch," has just sunk its teeth into the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise. Yes, Leatherface is getting an indie makeover, and the possibilities are deliciously terrifying.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reboot?! A24's SHOCKING Ta...

After what I can only imagine was a bloodbath of a bidding war, A24 has secured the rights to the long-running slasher series. Word on the street is they're developing a TV series, with JT Mollner ("Outlaws and Angels") at the helm. This is intriguing. Mollner seems to genuinely respect the source material, and his past work suggests he's not afraid to get weird and atmospheric. Exactly what this franchise needs, in my opinion.

But wait, there's more! A feature film is also in the works, produced by the same team, including Roy Lee (who practically lives and breathes horror) and the legendary Kim Henkel, co-creator of the original 1974 film. It's a relief to see Henkel involved; his blessing could be crucial to maintaining the spirit of the original while pushing the boundaries. No pressure, guys.

Glen Powell, the charming actor from "Top Gun: Maverick," is also on board as an executive producer, although his involvement seems limited to behind-the-scenes duties. He's expressed his deep love for the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," calling it one of his favorite films and a defining piece of cinema from his home state. It's good to see someone with such a personal connection involved, hopefully guiding the project towards something truly special.

It’s worth noting that Verve, the talent agency that's been handling the franchise's rights since 2017, oversaw the auction. Apparently, it attracted interest from some serious heavy hitters, including names like Oz Perkins, Jordan Peele, and Taylor Sheridan. Imagine what *that* version of Leatherface would look like! While those directors would have certainly brought a unique vision to the franchise, A24 feels like the perfect fit, all things considered.

Mollner has stated he’s not interested in remaking perfection, and that the original stands as the gold standard for horror. That said, he sees this as an opportunity for a long-form exploration of the world of the original. That's music to my ears. Let’s hope A24 can deliver a fresh, disturbing, and genuinely terrifying chapter in the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" legacy. I'm already sharpening my chainsaw (metaphorically, of course).
