Texas Chainsaw Massacre: A24 Reboot Will Leave You SHOCKED!
Gaming News 05 February 2026

Leatherface is back, baby! And this time, he's got some seriously stylish backup. A24, the studio that practically redefined modern horror with films like "Hereditary" and "Midsommar," is officially expanding the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" universe with both a new television series and a fresh film. Prepare yourselves, folks, because things are about to get messy.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: A24 Reboot Will Leave You...

According to *The Hollywood Reporter*, A24 snagged the rights to the iconic franchise after a competitive bidding war. This is huge news, not just for horror fans, but for anyone who appreciates a good dose of cinematic terror. Let's be honest, the original "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" is a landmark, and seeing it fall into the hands of a studio known for its artistic vision and commitment to quality is genuinely exciting. I, for one, am breathing a sigh of relief that it's not being churned out by some soulless production line.

Details are, understandably, scarce at this early stage. The TV series seems to be the immediate priority, but we're still waiting on plot specifics, release dates, and, most importantly, casting announcements. Imagine who they could get for this! Could we potentially see some established A24 talent taking a chainsaw to hapless victims? The possibilities are deliciously terrifying.

While the creative team is still coalescing, we do know some key players. Glen Powell, fresh off his success with "Top Gun: Maverick," is on board as an executive producer through his Barnstorm banner. And, JT Mollner ("The Long Walk") is directing. These two have some big shoes to fill, but the fact that they’re calling it an honor suggests a genuine respect for the source material.

"The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of my favorite films," Powell said in a statement. "It defined a generation of horror films and over half a century after its release, it remains one of the definitive movies of my home state. I’m honored to have Barnstorm help bring in a new chapter for such an iconic title and franchise."

“I’ve said publicly that I’m not interested in remaking perfect films, and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a perfect film,” Mollner added. “[Director and co-writer] Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel created something bold, transgressive, and truly seminal that holds up even today as the gold standard for horror." Both Powell and Mollner seem to acknowledge the legacy they’re stepping into, and hopefully, that translates into a respectful and genuinely frightening expansion of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" mythos.

Joining Powell and Mollner as executive producers are Roy Lee and Steven Schneider for Spooky Pictures, Stuart Manashil, Ben Ross, and Barnstorm's Dan Cohen. Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy of Exurbia Films are also on board as producers, with Kim Henkel, co-writer of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" film, serving as an executive producer. This is a solid team that knows horror, and, crucially, appears to understand the DNA of the original. Color me cautiously optimistic.
