Alright, Eric Bana fans, get ready to trade your hiking boots for swim trunks! Netflix has officially announced that "Untamed" is heading to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park for its second season. Yes, you heard that right. Kyle Turner is leaving Yosemite behind for a whole new set of mysteries simmering beneath the surface of the Aloha State.
Untamed Season 2: Shocking Location Change Leaves ...
Following the first season's dramatic conclusion – remember that drive away from Yosemite? – it seems Special Agent Turner is looking for a serious change of scenery. And what could be more different than trading granite cliffs for active volcanoes? The show, a mystery thriller produced by Warner Bros. TV and John Wells Productions, promises to delve into the unique environment and culture of its new location. I, for one, am excited to see how they weave the park's natural wonders into the narrative.
Co-showrunners and executive producers Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith seem equally enthusiastic. "We’re excited to explore the pristine landscapes and cultural identity of a very different national park, and find Turner in a new state of mind, outside the comfort of Yosemite," they said in a statement. Sounds like Turner's in for a serious shake-up, and honestly, that's exactly what we want to see. A fish out of water, so to speak, dealing with a completely new environment and set of challenges.
Let's be honest, the first season was a hit. "Untamed" premiered on Netflix on July 17, 2025, and basically exploded in popularity. It shot straight to the #1 spot on Netflix's Global Top 10 and held its own in the top ten for a solid seven weeks. By the end of 2025, it had racked up a staggering 92.8 million views, making it the third most-watched title on Netflix in the latter half of the year. That kind of success pretty much guarantees a second season, and thankfully, Netflix delivered.
Behind the scenes, there's a whole team of heavy hitters making this show happen. Besides the Smiths, executive producers include Eric Bana himself, John Wells and Erin Jontow via John Wells Productions, Todd Black and Tony Shaw for Escape Artists Entertainment, Steve Lee Jones for Bee Holder Productions, and Cliff Roberts for Syndicate Entertainment. With that much talent involved, expectations are definitely high. I'm personally hoping for some stunning visuals of the volcanic landscapes, a compelling mystery that keeps us guessing, and of course, some excellent acting from Bana. The transition from the familiar Yosemite setting to the exotic Hawaiian backdrop offers a wealth of potential storytelling opportunities. Only time will tell if "Untamed" can recapture the magic – and maybe even surpass it – in its second season. But for now, consider me hooked.
