First out of the gate, literally, will be the dynamic duo of Fatih Arda İpcioğlu and Muhammed Ali Bedir. These guys will be soaring through the air in the men's normal hill ski jumping event on Monday, February 9th, at 9:00 PM Turkish Time (TSİ) at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium. I've always been captivated by ski jumping; the sheer courage and precision are just breathtaking. Hopefully, they'll bring home a medal to kick off a successful games for Turkey!
Next, we’ll be watching Abdullah Yılmaz as he tackles the cross-country skiing tracks. He's slated to compete in the men's sprint classic on Tuesday, February 10th at 11:15 AM TSİ, and then again in the 10-kilometer freestyle on Friday, February 13th at 2:00 PM TSİ. Both events will be held at the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium. And let's not forget Irem Dursun, who'll be joining him at the same stadium for the women's 10-kilometer freestyle cross-country skiing event on Thursday, February 12th at 2:00 PM TSİ. Cross-country is such a test of endurance; I admire their dedication.
The action continues! Thomas Kaan Önol Lang will be carving up the slopes in the men's giant slalom alpine skiing event on Saturday, February 14th, at 12:00 PM TSİ at the Stelvio Ski Center. What a Valentine's Day treat for ski enthusiasts! Plus, that same evening, we'll see İpcioğlu and Bedir back in action for the men's large hill ski jumping event at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium at 8:45 PM TSİ. Talk about a busy day for our athletes!
Monday, February 16th, is shaping up to be a triple threat for Turkey! Lang will be competing in the men's slalom alpine skiing event, again at the Stelvio Ski Center, at 12:00 PM TSİ. And rounding out the day, İpcioğlu and Bedir will team up for the men's super team ski jumping event at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium at 9:00 PM TSİ. Phew! I'm getting tired just writing about it!
Finally, on Wednesday, February 18th, Ada Hasırcı will take on the women's slalom alpine skiing event at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Center at 12:00 PM TSİ. And if they make it through the heats, Örs and Akar will be back for the quarter-finals of the men's 500-meter short track speed skating event at the Milano Ice Skating Arena at 10:15 PM TSİ. Let's hope they can bring home some hardware!
The Winter Olympics will then wrap up with the closing ceremony at the Verona Olympic Arena on Sunday, February 22nd. Let’s all rally behind our athletes and show them our support as they strive for glory in Italy! We'll be following their progress every step of the way.
