Extraction shooters are having a *moment*, aren't they? You can barely swing a virtual pickaxe without hitting a new one. But one, it seems, is really hitting its stride as we head into 2026: Arc Raiders. According to a recent Nexon investor presentation, the game has smashed the one million concurrent player mark on PC alone last month. That's… a lot of Raiders.
Arc Raiders EXPLODES! 1 Million Players - What's B...
The figures, proudly presented by Nexon’s president and CEO Junghun Lee and CFO Shiro Uemura, really paint a picture of a title finding its audience. Since its launch late last year, Arc Raiders has apparently shifted a whopping 14 million copies. And, let's be honest, while "copies sold" doesn't always translate into active players, the numbers don't lie in this case. That translates to ₩27.7 billion in revenue, or about $18.8 million USD. Not bad for a game that, if I'm being honest, I wasn't entirely sure would stick around. But stick around it has! They also dropped the bomb that Arc Raiders currently boasts around six million weekly active users. Pretty impressive, especially considering the crowded market it's in.
Now, the presentation didn't give any insight into console player numbers, which makes you wonder how much bigger the overall player base *actually* is. You'd imagine it's a substantial bump, given how popular consoles are. Perhaps Nexon is holding back that information for a separate announcement? Who knows! What we *do* know is that the PC numbers are nothing to sneeze at. Personally, I've always preferred my extraction shooters on PC anyway. Just feels right with a mouse and keyboard.
It wasn't all Arc Raiders glory though. Nexon took the opportunity to highlight other wins, most notably Maplestory. The granddaddy of MMOs apparently had record quarterly earnings in Western markets. Twenty years! That game is older than some of my interns. And even Maplestory: Idle RPG, a more streamlined, passive take on the franchise, is performing well in both Asia and the West. Shows the enduring power of nostalgia, doesn't it?
It’s interesting to note that Arc Raiders seems to be focusing on fostering a more cooperative community. They recently ran a two-week PvE event, encouraging players to team up. This is smart, especially given the inherent tension in extraction shooters where everyone is usually trying to steal everyone else's loot. Building a sense of camaraderie can be a real differentiator, and it seems to be paying off for Arc Raiders. Can't wait to see what they do next!
