Turkish football's disciplinary arm, the PFDK, has been busy handing out punishments this week, with Gaziantep FK's Drissa Camara headlining the sanctions. It seems the defender's challenge in their recent Süper Lig clash against Kasımpaşa didn't sit well with the board. He's been slapped with a two-match ban for what they deemed a "serious foul" against an opponent. Ouch. I've seen some questionable tackles go unpunished, so it'll be interesting to see the replay and judge for myself if it warrants such a harsh penalty.

But Camara isn't the only one feeling the heat. The PFDK didn't just focus on individual players; they also went after the wallets of several prominent clubs. In a move that's becoming increasingly common in Turkish football, a slew of fines were issued. Beşiktaş, no strangers to hefty penalties, are topping the list with a massive ₺1,820,000 fine. Galatasaray aren't far behind, having to cough up ₺1,210,000. Zecorner Kayserispor, Trabzonspor, ikas Eyüpspor, Çaykur Rizespor, Samsunspor, and Kocaelispor were also hit with fines ranging from ₺220,000 to ₺1,180,000. The TFF statement didn't specify the exact reasons for these fines, which, frankly, is a bit frustrating for fans trying to understand what’s going on. It leaves a lot of room for speculation, doesn't it?
Moving down the leagues, it appears the disciplinary action extends beyond the Süper Lig. Uğur Uçar, the coach of Trendyol 1. Lig team Atko Grup Pendikspor, will have to watch his team from the sidelines for a game, also serving a one-match ban. Similarly, İbrahim Akdağ, a player for Emre Gökdemir İnşaat Ankara Keçiörengücü, is facing the same punishment. Apparently, everyone is playing too aggressive.
More suspensions were handed out in the lower tiers as well. Bandırmaspor's Douglas Willian Da Silva Souza and Manisa FK's Omobolajı Habeeb Adekanye will both be unavailable for their respective teams for the next two matches. It seems like the PFDK are trying to send a clear message about on-field conduct across all levels of Turkish football. Whether these fines and suspensions will actually deter future misconduct remains to be seen. One thing's for sure: the disciplinary board is definitely keeping the teams and players on their toes.
Ultimately, the consistency and transparency of these decisions are what fans and clubs will be watching closely. A lack of clarity breeds distrust, and that's the last thing Turkish football needs right now.
