Mediterranean Surf Cup: Are You Ready For Some Waves?
Current Affairs 14 February 2026

Murcia is buzzing with excitement as the fifth annual Mediterranean Surf Cup prepares to make waves in Puerto de Mazarrón. That's right, folks, grab your board (or just your beach towel) because the region is about to be hit by a tidal wave of surf action!

Mediterranean Surf Cup: Are You Ready For Some Wav...

Organized by Bahía Surf in partnership with the Surf Federation of the Region of Murcia, the event promises two days of thrilling competition. Get ready to set your alarms, because the action kicks off bright and early at 8:30 AM on both February 21st and 22nd, 2026. La Reya Beach, with its stunning scenery, will be the stage for all the surfing spectacle. I can already picture the crowds cheering on their favorite surfers.

The dates have been carefully chosen, apparently, to coincide with what local wave forecasters are predicting will be optimal surfing conditions. According to sources, this first weekend should deliver the goods when it comes to decent swells. I've been to Puerto de Mazarrón before, it's a beautiful spot, but let's be honest, sometimes the Mediterranean can be a bit...flat. So here's hoping the wave gods are smiling upon us.

What's really cool about the Mediterranean Surf Cup is that it caters to all skill levels. Both amateur and open categories will be represented, giving everyone a chance to showcase their skills, and of course, battle for bragging rights. It’s great to see a competition that embraces all levels of experience. The organizers deserve kudos for that.

The event has steadily grown in popularity over the years, cementing its position as a premier surfing competition on the Costa Cálida. This year's competition is expected to bring together a diverse range of surfers, including young up-and-comers eager to prove themselves in the February sunshine. This event is a fantastic opportunity to watch some really talented surfers and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Puerto de Mazarrón. I highly recommend marking your calendars, because this is one event you won’t want to miss.
