Kelley's Pfeiffer U-Turn: "Vowed Never To" - What Changed Everything?!
Movies & TV Series 15 February 2026

Okay, so David E. Kelley, the guy behind *everything* good on TV (at least it feels that way!), apparently had a rule: no working with his wife, the amazing Michelle Pfeiffer. And then, BAM! Along comes "Margo's Got Money Troubles," an adaptation for Apple TV+, and suddenly, that rule went straight out the window. It's always funny when these Hollywood titans have these hard-and-fast rules, and then something just *clicks*. I'm guessing that's what happened here.

Kelley's Pfeiffer U-Turn: "Vowed Never To" - What ...

Kelley, who's snagged 11 Emmys over the years (no big deal, right?), was chatting at an Apple TV+ press day, and he couldn't resist poking fun at his initial hesitation to work with Pfeiffer. He said something along the lines of vowing "never" to collaborate with her, and frankly, I find it hilarious. You can just picture the inside jokes and the years of unspoken "we'll keep work and home separate" promises. I wonder what changed his mind.

Apparently, the book itself just screamed "Michelle Pfeiffer!" Kelley explained that the casting process was a breeze because everyone instantly fell in love with the story. And then he dropped the bomb about Pfeiffer, saying, "And the actress there in the middle, who I vowed never to work with…" To which Pfeiffer quipped, "I'm very difficult." This is gold. Pure Hollywood gold. You just know these two have a playful dynamic, and honestly, it makes me even more excited for the show.

He then sweetened the deal, adding, "When I read the book, I could only see one person playing it, and we're lucky enough that she said yes, the second luckiest yes I've gotten from her." How adorable is that? Thirty years of marriage and he's still charming his wife. It's also a testament to Pfeiffer's talent, that even her husband couldn't deny she was the perfect fit for Margo. The fact that he said it was the second luckiest yes tells you everything you need to know about their relationship.

Look, "Margo's Got Money Troubles" already had my attention because Kelley is a master storyteller. But now, knowing that Michelle Pfeiffer is not only starring but that her involvement essentially broke Kelley's self-imposed rule? I'm officially hooked. And the cast is stacked too: Nicole Kidman, Greg Kinnear, Marcia Gay Harden, Michael Angarano…it's like a who's who of incredibly talented actors. Seriously, Apple TV+ is really upping their game.

I'm willing to bet that the "never" vow wasn't exactly a deal-breaker to begin with. Sometimes, the best collaborations come from unexpected places, even within your own family. And if this project is as good as the talent involved suggests, we might just be witnessing the start of a beautiful (and hilarious) professional partnership.
