Great news for Peter Krause fans! The actor, known for his roles in "9-1-1" and the iconic "Six Feet Under," has officially signed on to star in a new NBC drama pilot titled "Protection." This marks a significant return to NBC for Krause, the network that gave us the heartwarming series "Parenthood," where he played the unforgettable Adam Braverman for six seasons. I, for one, am thrilled to see him back on network television.

Peter Krause's SHOCKING New Role After 9-1-1 Exit!

The new show, "Protection," comes from the creative mind of Josh Safran, the writer and executive producer behind hits like "Quantico" and "Gossip Girl." Safran, along with Jenna Bush Hager and Ben Spector, will be executive producing this project. It sounds like it's shaping up to be a real thriller. The premise is intriguing: when a U.S. Marshal is killed in the line of duty, what initially seems like a straightforward case unravels into a dangerous conspiracy. A family of law enforcement agents, the Thornhills, finds themselves the target of a mysterious assassin.

Krause will be playing Mike Thornhill, a series regular, which suggests a significant role in the unfolding drama. The Thornhill family, apparently, has to put aside their personal issues and cross professional boundaries to protect each other and bring the killer to justice. The catch? They might have to betray their sworn code to do it. This creates a great deal of tension and moral ambiguity, which can only mean good things for the show’s potential.

What I find particularly appealing is the family dynamic aspect. The premise of a family of law enforcement officers having to protect one another, even when it means potentially compromising their principles, provides a rich landscape for complex character development and compelling storylines. I'm expecting a lot of twists and turns.

The show is being produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and falls under the first-look deal that Jenna Bush Hager has with Universal Studio Group for her Thousand Voices production company. This suggests a strong backing for the project, which is always a good sign. Hopefully, NBC picks up the pilot and we see a full series order. I know a lot of fans were disappointed with the way Krause's storyline concluded in "9-1-1," so this new role will hopefully provide a fresh and exciting chapter in his career. It's definitely one to watch!
