The world is still reeling from the loss of Eric Dane, the charismatic actor we all came to know and love from shows like "Euphoria" and "Grey's Anatomy." Following his recent passing after a battle with ALS, friends have stepped up to support his family, launching a GoFundMe campaign for his two daughters. It's a move that's sparked conversation, to say the least.

Eric Dane's Health Crisis: Friend Defends GoFundMe...

The campaign, organized by close friend Mike McGuiness, is aiming to raise $250,000. McGuiness explained the rationale behind the crowdfunding effort in a heartfelt caption. He pointed out that Dane's ability to work, and therefore provide for his family, had been severely hampered by both ALS and the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. "Covid and ALS did a number on his work life and he sadly couldn’t leave his family with the resources he had hoped," McGuiness wrote. He concluded his post by encouraging support and a reminder to appreciate loved ones, adding, "A GoFundMe is being made and I will post it on my story for anyone able to help. Love the ones you’ve got."

And it seems people are responding. As of Saturday morning, the campaign had already garnered over $187,000 in donations. It's genuinely heartwarming to see such an outpouring of support. Among the notable contributors are "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson and his wife Ashley, who donated a substantial $27,000. Actresses Alyssa Milano and producer Randall Emmett have also contributed, demonstrating the deep impact Dane had on the entertainment community. I think it shows just how much he was respected and cared for.

The GoFundMe page clearly states the intended use of the funds: "to support his girls and their future needs." The organizers emphasized that every contribution, regardless of size, would be a significant help in providing stability for Dane's daughters, Billie and Georgia, during this incredibly difficult period. It's a practical way to offer assistance and ensure their future well-being.

Of course, there's been some chatter online, with a few questioning the need for a GoFundMe given Dane's apparent success. However, it's easy to forget the realities of living with a debilitating illness like ALS, especially when compounded by a global pandemic. Medical expenses can be astronomical, and work opportunities can vanish overnight. Ultimately, the campaign serves as a testament to the community Dane fostered around him, and a way for his friends and colleagues to ensure his daughters are taken care of in his absence. It's a tough time for everyone involved, especially his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, and their children.
