23XI Racing's Tyler Reddick might just be on the verge of something special. At least, that's the sentiment coming from none other than NASCAR veteran Kevin Harvick after Reddick's stunning Daytona 500 victory. And it seems like a good time for it to start. After all, 23XI Racing is giving Reddick a "unique advantage," as Harvick puts it. But what exactly does that mean?
Reddick's Daytona Win Hides a Secret? 23XI's SHOCK...
It's interesting, because just before the Daytona 500, Harvick actually voiced some concerns about 23XI Racing and how Reddick might fare. Now, fast forward to the checkered flag, and Harvick's tune has completely changed. He's now seeing them as a real force to be reckoned with.
"It brings things to you that you might otherwise not have. That's the type of situation where Michael Jordan just makes winning the Daytona 500 that much more special because of his reach," Harvick explained. And you know, he's probably right. There's a certain cachet that comes with having Michael Jordan involved, a level of visibility and access that other teams might just not have.
This Daytona 500 win was a monumental moment, not just for Reddick, but for Jordan's 23XI Racing itself. Founded in 2020, this is their first taste of Daytona glory. Now, whether this win translates into long-term success for Reddick's career is anyone's guess. But, let's be honest, it’s put him squarely in the spotlight.
But it's not just about Jordan's influence. Harvick also points to Reddick's mindset as a key factor. He says Reddick has a maturity and a drive that sets him apart. He even mentioned how Reddick arrived ten minutes early for a recent interview, eager to dissect his performance and figure out how to improve. Shows a real hunger, doesn't it?
"You could just hear it in his voice, he wanted to understand why he didn't win last year. He wanted to understand what his weaknesses were. He wanted to understand all the things that were happening on the team," Harvick noted, emphasizing the team's commitment to honest self-assessment.
Considering Reddick went winless in 2023, Harvick thinks this Daytona victory could mark the beginning of a pretty significant chapter for both Reddick and 23XI Racing. He's probably right - it's a great way to reset the tone.
"Our expectations for 23XI and Tyler are to be winners. Tyler Reddick went to 23XI to try and win more races and become that championship contender. When you start the year off by winning the biggest race of the year, you do the victory tour for winning the Daytona 500 and you put your name on that trophy next to all those great stars and hugging Michael Jordan, those are the expectations we have for the team and the driver." High expectations, for sure, but with that win under their belt, who knows what they can achieve?
